Unable to detect xmltv.xml file needed for EPG
Posted by: EPSCREECH - 2020-01-31, 11:53 AM - Forum: Linux - Replies (2)

First off, thanks for NextPVR - its great software! Next, I thank anyone willing to help with the issue I'm having.

I'm running a RaspberryPi 3 Model B with DietPi as the OS. I installed NextPVR as per the official instructions given here: https://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php?tid=59390 using the .deb file method. I was able to detect my HDHomeRun Connect Duo instantly and pick up/watch the channels. I'm also running my EPG grabber (zap2xml) from the same Raspberry Pi 3, and have managed to create a working xmltv.xml file for use. My issue is not being able to have NextPVR detect the xmltv.xml file. I am a Linux novice in every sense of the word, and figured it may be me not providing the correct format in the URL/File section of the NextPVR web interface. The file path is "/root/xmltv/xmltv.xml". However, when I use this for the file path, it does not detect it. I am unable to map any listing to the channels because there are none available. I have tested the file in the Windows 10 version of NextPVR and it works like a dream. It is not the content of the file itself. It appears to be either me not being able to specify the correct file/path format, some sort of weird permission issue, or something else. I'm hoping someone with more experience with Linux or their own setup/configuration of NextPVR can help me. Thanks again for any of your suggestions/assistance!

Australia FTA EPG not recognised with v5?
Posted by: skris88 - 2020-01-31, 01:20 AM - Forum: Windows - Replies (23)

Hi

I have used v4 of NextPVR before many times successfully.

In a new PC with NPVR never before installed I am trying v5.

I can view my HDHomeRun channels on VLC.

But with NPVR v5 while it sees the tuner, scans and finds my FTA channels, the EPG remains blank (which I could live with if I have to). But on the client when you click on a show the screen goes blank.

The Server CLI window shows some lines it has actually opened the channel but receives a Stop command. Is ths stored on a log file somewhere I can download and include here (copy and paste does not work)? I have attached a screen capture below.

I tried it on a failed Ubuntu installation some weeks ago and give up when I read I needed to buy an EPG service.

Is this also the same with the Windows version - ie. because the free-to-air EPG is no longer supported?

Thanks!

Cheers,
skris88

  Recurring recordings
Posted by: dsreyn - 2020-01-30, 10:52 PM - Forum: Docker amd64 - Replies (5)

I have a couple of comments about settings for recurring recordings using the web browser interface to my Docker container.

First, if I have an existing recurring recording where I picked "Advanced" as the recording type, I'm unable to modify the rule once it has been saved.  If I select the existing recurring rule, I can make changes to the "Advanced" field while the dialog box is open, but when I click "Save", any changes to that field are lost.  The only way to change one of these recordings seems to be to delete the old one and start over.

The other thing is, the Post-Padding setting is a drop-down list with a maximum setting of 60 minutes.  For most things this is fine, but I would like to be able to extend it further for recording baseball games.  Between rain delays, extra innings, and games that just drag on forever, an extra 60 minutes sometimes isn't enough.  Would it be possible to increase the limit, or to make it a box where the user can just type in a number?  It looks like I can probably modify it by editing the npvr.db3 file once the rule is in place, but that doesn't really seem like a great way to do it.

What is being sent when using /live?channel=3.1
Posted by: scJohn - 2020-01-30, 03:53 PM - Forum: Developers - Replies (2)

Could some one tell me what exactly is being sent from the NPVR sever when I submit the following API:

http://127.0.0.1:8866/live?channel=3.1

Is there some special protocol being used?  Just the the raw video feed.  What is need on the client end to "read" the stream?

Thanks

  Local Channels
Posted by: Stacman2020 - 2020-01-30, 06:24 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (2)

Why would it be that my local channel listings aren't showing up in the guide anymore while they do in any other client I use (e.g. Tivimate, IPTV Pro, Plex, etc.)?  Also, when I uninstall and reinstall I lose the Groups in the Channels section so I can't edit them.  They worked fine when I first installed the app.

Thanks!

  Channel Re-Scan and Scheduled Recordings
Posted by: zed - 2020-01-29, 09:39 PM - Forum: NextPVR Support - Replies (1)

To clean up my channel listings, I deleted all the existing channels and then did a new scan. I got things the way I wanted and everything seemed to be OK but then one of my scheduled recordings (scheduled before the channel clean-up) failed with the message 'Failed: Channel not found. Deleted?'. It's the only one that has been attempted since the re-scan, the others are for later dates. The channel is actually still there but perhaps the re-scan changed things such that its identifier changed? A recording that I scheduled after the re-scan (on the same channel) worked OK. Will I have to re-schedule all my recordings that were scheduled before the re-scan?

Thanks...

Microsoft's EPG service for WMC retired
Posted by: Zeb - 2020-01-29, 06:13 PM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (2)

I'm surprised there has been no discussion here, since Microsoft announced this months ago: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows...center#343. I have WMC with TV Pack on an old PC running Vista, and have no data available after tomorrow night at 6 PM.

So WMC no longer has the advantage of free and easy (albeit somewhat unsatisfactory) guide data, and NextPVR can now be used on platforms other than Windows. The future looks promising!

  Trying NextPVR...Windows or Unraid?
Posted by: ctviggen - 2020-01-29, 03:49 PM - Forum: NextPVR Support - Replies (5)

I have one (home theater, HT) computer we use to watch all our TV (one TV, too).  That computer ran Windows 7, and I'm upgrading to Windows 10.  I have an Unraid server that stores all our recorded TV.  I use HD Homerun Prime (3 tuners), with a cable card.

I would like to add Next PVR to this system.  Next PVR (client) will of course be on the HT computer, but should I consider making the back end/server part be on my unraid server?  In the past, both the unraid server and the HT computer have run 24/365.  So, it's possible for me to put Next PVR solely on the HT computer, though this means copying recorded TV to the unraid server periodically.

So, should I attempt an installation on my unraid server? Or just keep everything on Windows?

Thank you.

No video or audio from start of playback
Posted by: smiffypr - 2020-01-29, 03:20 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (8)

Some recordings, when i play them i get nothing (black screen and no sound), if I right click and "stop" then select the same recording but Resume rather than play, it will play fine.
In the log, I started up and started to play at 14:55 and started the Resume at 14:56

  NPVR 5.0.1.200103 Always crashing
Posted by: Shep99 - 2020-01-28, 02:07 PM - Forum: Linux - Replies (6)

Hello:

I previously tried out NPVR on windows, and just recently came back to playing with it on Linux! I'm running it on an Odroid MC1 ( Samsung Exynos5422 big-LITTLE octa-core CPUS with 2GB RAM ), with Ubuntu 18.04.
I can install NPVR no problems, load my channel line up, heck even create a few recordings, and they sometimes work! But.... really often, unfortunately for no reason I can see, the service nextpvr-server just dies.... I could be changing a page in the web gui ( channels, to guide ), it crashes. Looking at recordings, it crashes, after a recording has completed, it crashes.....

I must say I REALLY like the look of NPVR 5! And the fact that it's on Linux now, AMAZING!!!!! Would love to move to this from TV Mosaic, as TV Mosaic has issues recording a couple of shows sometimes, but can't after 4 days figure out why it keeps randomly crashing....

I've uploaded my log files to this post, and hope perhaps someone might be able to help me troubleshoot what the issue is, so I can start using this awesome version!

If it's any help, I had several crashed even just this AM ( Jan 28th, @ roughly 8:00 to 9:00 AM ).

Thanks all!
