  Playing CDs
Posted by: HK Phoey - 2005-10-12, 09:12 AM - Forum: Old Stuff (Legacy) - Replies (3)

I may be missing something obvious, but I can't see how I can play CDs in GBPVR. MusicPlayer will rip them to disk, but how do I just put in a cd and listen to it?

  LiveTV not working
Posted by: danju - 2005-10-12, 07:25 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (11)

I have a WinTV PVR USB2 (model 941) and gbpvr v0.94.13.

I only get a blank screen when selecting "Watch" to view liveTV. The green "Exit/Quick Rec/RecordWatch" popup screen just stays on the foreground and doesn't go away. I can hear the sound, but am not seeing any video. This happens on both TV and PC.
If I do a Quick Record and then Play back, then I get the video+sound. Not a problem there. I can also play back any recorded shows.
Are there some other settings?

My gb-Config:
- Pre-show padding=0 (default?)
- Capture Source: Direct Recording->WinTV PVR2 USB-> Internal Tuner + Antenna, Medium Quality
- Playback: LiveTV Pre-play delay: 600

I just bought the USB2 box today and installed Hauppauge CD on the PC to make sure that I could get liveTV okay. All was working fine before I started bringing up gbpvr. I still left Hauppauge software installed. I don't think that would cause any conflict with gbpvr?

Any help would be apreciated. Thanks,

D.

Pausing and fast rewinding and advancing live TV
Posted by: beermanmc - 2005-10-12, 03:32 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (4)

I am having a problem when I am watching live TV and pause it, if I later try to fast forward to skip commercials and try to get caught up it won't let me play it after its been advanced. When I hit the pause button it doesn't start playing instead it maked the fast forward faster. In order to get it to play I have to exit out and restart live TV from the menu. Any idea on how to fix this?

  Required Registry Entry Missing
Posted by: TheHinge - 2005-10-12, 03:29 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (1)

I have downloaded and installed GB-PVR twice. It crashes on the config program.

To make a long story short, I went to the service in Services and it will not start the service. It says:

Configuration Manager: A required entry in the registry is missing or an attempt to write to the registry failed.

I tried a repair and it said: encountered an error.

The file was 5.8MB. I don't know if that is correct.

I made sure no firewall or anti-spyware was running or anything that would interfere with registry entries.

Now everytime I try an install it I get a "Fatal Error." I have no log that I can find.

Any help is appreciated.

  Installing Cable Modem
Posted by: jerry430 - 2005-10-12, 02:47 AM - Forum: MVP & NMT - Replies (22)

I currently have 2 MVPs connected to my PC via an ethernet switch. For some reason, they will only work if I disable DHCP and assign the IP address that came with the MVP. Nevertheless, they have worked flawlessly.
I finally decided to make the move to broadband, and today picked up the self-installation kit from Roadrunner. Since the ethernet cable port on my PC is already occupied with the cable to my MVP switch, I used the alternate USB connection to the cable modem. When I ran the software to install Roadrunner, it said that the connection failed. I then ran the included diagnostic and it said that my "network adapter contained outdated TCP/IP settings", so I clicked the box to renew the IP configuration. When I did this, it enabled the DHCP and I lost my MVP connection. Plus, I still couldn't establish a connection to the modem. (I was able to re-establish the MVP connection by disabling DHCP and entering the address)
I'm curious as to how those who have MVPs and broadband connect the cable modem. I know the ethernet cable connection is preferred over USB. Is it best to install another ethernet PCI card to connect both the MVP and modem via ethernet cable? Is it possible to connect the cable modem with the DHCP disabled?
I figured I'd try here before calling tech support since I'm sure the tech will have no idea what I'm talking about.

  ATI All-in-Wonder card
Posted by: nayak52 - 2005-10-12, 02:31 AM - Forum: Hardware - Replies (4)

I'm actually looking into this for a friend who recently purchased an ATI all-in-wonder card. I have a feeling that this might be covered in the site somewhere but I haven't been able to find a definitive list of which cards are supported. If anyone can advise whether this card is supported at all, I would greatly appreciate it.

Thanks.

  Comskip audio lag in playback
Posted by: wannabepvr - 2005-10-12, 01:00 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (13)

Hi - I just tried using comskip for the first time (0.77-56) in GBPVR 0.94.13. I have set the comskip to post-processing.

WOW! this is great!

Just one small hiccup. After the skip the video comes up straight away and plays for a few seconds then stops. Then the audio starts and plays up to the video - then they both play in sync again. Wierd!

I know there is no problem with the recorded file becasue if I remove the comskip files it play perfectly.

Any ideas anyone?

Thanks.
