Just a very quick question, I'm looking to do a test setup using an old TV-Card before launching myself fully into the HTPC/PVR arena. Can anyone let me know if GBPVR will work with a Hauppauge WinTV 880 Video Capture card?
I'm particularly interestested in GBPVRs client server model, if this card is compatible would these features be limited in anyway?
Has anyone any experience of using Audio/Video senders with gbpvr ?
I have a Hauppauge 350 and an MVP
I currently exclusivley use the MVP for viewing, but I'd like to send the output of gbpvr to another TV in the house and rather than buy another MVP I thought I'd investigate using a Audio/Video sender [tescos in the uk have one for £25] against the £50 for another mvp.
I think I could use the output from the 350 and my soundcard as the input to the AV sender is that correct ?
Can I use the 350 output and drive an mvp at the same time [different actual sound & video obviously]
The AV sender claims to be able to send ir codes back to another device would this work with the 350 ?
I've had GBPVR on my PC for at least 9 months, and it's been working fairly well up until the last month. I've wiped my HDD and started again and now I can't get MVP to work with GPPVR. I've since re-installed XP again
My basic setup is this, GBPVR v09413, XP SP2 (firewall disabled) 2.4G Athon, 385mb RAM, PVR350, MVP all connected to switch, two other PC's on statics and a broadband router connected. Router IP is 192.168.0.1, PC that's on all the time is 192.168.0.3, The router has a DHCP server.
I've tested the connection with Hauppauge MVP software and it works fine, although it's not a patch on GBPVR. So I disable the servces and enable 1 MVP and still get the 3 bars on the first screen.
What am I doing wrong? It's been working fine. Can someone help me diagnose the problem. It's really getting on my nerves now

Perhaps we could have some regional user forums as many things like XMLTV sources and tuning advice (issues with the MS NZ Tuner settings etc) apply specifically to NZ and would bore others. This way it gives people a good place to start looking for issues that they are likely to meet.
I have a fresh computer that I am trying to install gbpvr on. I install Microsoft .NET and then intsall GBPV09211. After the installation while it starts the initial configuration an error immediatly pops up saying, "

I have no idea what it means and am hoping to get it fixed. I have tried uninstalling, reinstalling, repairing, restoring, so I am just not sure. Any info would be helpfull. Thank!
I just bought a Happauge PVR 150 about two weeks ago and I am trying to use it with gbpvr. Reading threw countless articles on this site, I am still getting fairly poor results, as far as live tv and recorder shows are concerned.
If anyone is willing to help I would greatly appreciate it. Basically what I am looking for is any suggestions from anyone, a total tutorial would be great. I'm talking everything from what drivers / encoders / decoders extra software to install - to all settings you think I should use, to try and get the best quality.
Here is my setup:
P4 2.4 Ghz / 512 Megs Ram / 200 Gig HD / ATI 9550 256 Meg Agp Card / Hauppauge PVR 150 /
Biggest problem is deinterlacing problem with horizontal lines in vids. I've tried leaving video interlaved and burning to dvd problems seems to appear somewhat on TV, not as much as on PC. I've tried Deinterlacing with every option available in gbpvr with not much success. But overall vid quality is an issue as well.
So any kind of Setup guide any one could leave on this thread would be greatly appreciated. I would be looking to watch live tv, archive video (record and possibly reformat into Divx while still getting good quality, as well as burning to dvd)
Tieke,
In one of the popup windows of XRecord, there are a couple of buttons that overlap in Flat Blue, High Vis.
Go to XRecord-->Scheduler-->Add Entry-->More
You'll see that the yellow "Duplicates" field overlaps the Basic button.
Also, since after the Duplicates button, the next set of buttons control the 'mode' (for lack of a better term) and so are buttons which control Scheduler, as opposed to the buttons at Duplicates and above, which are buttons to specify the recording to be scheduled. So, perhaps these should somehow be indicated as different -- perhaps a horizontal line separating them? Just a thought ......
I think Flat Blue, High Vis is great, by the way -- most readable, and concentrates on function rather than eye candy.
1) When skipping forward, if there's less time remaining than the amount the skip is set for, it would be nice for it to skip to the end.
For example, often I'll start watching a program after it started recording for 10 minutes or so. At some point, I'll catch up to the end of the program during a commercial break. I have my forward skip set to 30 seconds, but say there's 25 seconds from the current point to the end, I can't catch all the way up without jumping back a bit first.
2) A time setting (beginning/end) to determine whether a record is written into the PLAYBACK_POSITION table.
For example, I'll sometimes enter a recording or avi for only a second or two. It would be nice to only have the resume prompt if I've been watching for at least a minute (or some configurable time). Additionally, it would be nice if it didn't write the record if I jumped out of the program in the last five minutes of the program.
I opened up the table yesterday and noticed I had almost 500 records with almost all set to the very beginning or the end of a program. After deleting the records, entering and exiting a recording or avi seemed to speed up a bit.
