i had some issues with gb-pvr crashing so i uninstalled the ap and was going to start over but now the site gbpvr.com is down and i lost my original install of the ap can someone post it untill sub gets back or can you email me? a copy of it thanks

I've just released this.

Unlike most of the other music libraries here this one fully uses a database as a media library. It was born out of the convoluted file structure I keep my MP3's in.

You can have files anywhere, and in any file structure, and this will present them in artist, album and title - if it can read the ID3v1 or ID3v2 tags.

I would consider this as a beta realease at the moment. I've tested it on 3 machines, including acros a network.

I have disabled all mouse events for the moment, and will add those in a later release (sorry to all those mouse users).

In upcoming releases, will be a random playlist generator, the ability to save playlists, and I will add automatic music library updating. At the moment it is only available from the Config screen.

Installation: Install adatabase to GBPVR directory, DLL to plugins and skin files....well you know where.

EDIT: Requires CommonGBPVRUtilities (from 8-10-2005 onwards). Not included in package, nor is the Common Dialogs skins.

Ran GBPVR several months -- all great.

Last week -- 3 recordings lost/missed. When selecting program from Guide, get:

Error:No Connection could be made because the target machine actively refused it

When OK clicked (on error msg), show turns Red on guide -- shows up in Pending but does not record. EPG Update and all else works.

In viewing the logs, no entries when shows should have started (if I am reading the right logs).

Only change in last few weeks (before problem started) was adding Pinnacle Showcenter streaming server - should not impact intra machine connections.

P4-3.2 512M WXPSP2 NIS, all updated. Hauppauge PVR150.

So I have been reading some articles about microsofts push for IPTV. It sounds kind of neat. Basically you can use your high speed internet connection to stream tv content to your tv. Most people have DSL or Cable.

I was wondering if bandwidth was fast enough to do that today.

I see two possibilities
1) Imagine something like shoutcast that people with tuner cards would connect to. It would determine when a tuner was idle and allow someone to stream your channel to their pvr over the internet. ( Is streamming illegal)
The problem with that is if you wanted to record something it might bump the user.

2) The other possibility is a central server with a list of all recorded shows and who has them. You can stream shows from different users machines.

I figure most people record at 3500 kilobits per second.

Which is about 460KB per second. Odds are the bandwidth is not there unless some fancy transcoding is done.


The idea is interesting. Obviously at the same time as the media is suing all of the peer to peer systems they are learning that they need some kind of system to distribute their content cheaply.


Eventually when the C# framework supports the IPTV protocols we can implement a plugin to use our current setups to view the content.

I've got four entries in my videos: new releases (over 100 entries), feature films, recordings and full DVDs. Whenever I go into one of my entries it takes over 5 seconds to get into the movies directory - it always makes me think that GBPVR is hanging. Any way for me to speed things up? Other than that, it's got all the functionality I need.

I´ve set up a GBPVR client/server environmet by following this thread;

Got it all working (at last!), including TV Guide and Live TV.
The Host is a AmdXP2500 with 512mb ram, equipped with a PVR150.
As i Client I use a Celeron 2,5ghz with 256mb ram.
They are connected to my homenetwork, 100mbit.

Both computers running windows xp and the server got a perfectly working GBPVR that I also hooked up an MVP to.

The problem is that LiveTV very easily gets out of sync on the client and the
stream seams a bit "slow" as well as the GBPVR interface.
Anyone else tried to set up a client/server with 100% success?
Did you have any trouble sync on LiveTV. The picture lags but the sound continues = out of sync...

I really just want/need LiveTV to work on the client(s).

I just installed gb-pvr last night for the first time. Was very impressed with ease of setup but ran into a problem. After setting up my Zap2It account (I am in the US), I clicked the "update epg" button in the config menu. Window opens telling me that system is retreiving listings from zap2it. After about 4 min. the message changes to "processing listings..." It has stayed in this state for over an hour with cpu at 100% but does not appear to lock up system. Running with firewall off.

Thought the problem might be that the zap2it server was too busy but tried it this morning with the same results.

Please help. This is my third PVR program and yet to get one fully working. Have tried Beyond TV, Meedio and now GBPVR.

I have the following configuration:

1. Philips proteus card that uses WDM
2. Sigma Designs Xcard (for outputing to TV screen)
3. Celeron III 1.2GHz
4. RAM = 256MB


I have managed to configure the capture card by installing the plugin for WDM drivers. I was able to watch videos from my composite input on the computer monitor by clicking the "Live TV".

The problem arises when I changed the configuration "Hardware Decoder Device" to Sigma Designs Xcard.

GBPVR was able to output the main screen to the TV, and I was able to navigate every button. But when I tried to click the "Live TV", there was an error message "Error: undetermined error"

The same problem occurs when i clicked the DVD sign. The error message: "Error: External Component has thrown an exception".

I have installed Xmedia to verify if its a faulty Sigma Designs Xcard, but the Xmedia was able to play the DVD.
