Can't navigate with remote control when watching dvd
Posted by: peterk - 2005-10-10, 08:23 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (6)

Hello there,

I've got a problem according the DVD navigation in GBPVR#09413. After starting a DVD I can't use the remote control anymore. Trying to navigate through any DVD menu (as well as skipping scenes etc) using the remote control has no effect. I have to do this by mouse.
In one situation when I tried out all button an the remote control something interesting happened: The computer went to hibernation. My explanation is, that GBPVR was still active in the background listening to the remote control when accidently hit the "shutdown" button.

I'm using a Hauppage PVR USB2. And yes, I have enabled the "Hauppage Remote Control Fix".

Is there anybody who can help me? Thanks in advance

Peter

This is a minor bugfix solving some possible crashes and a small error in the shrink_logo processing
It also solves a problem with the CSV file in combination with NTSC

No need to upgrade if you have no problems.

All versions can be downloaded from http://mk.kaashoek.com/gbpvr/

GB-PVR recording service crashes / live preview problems
Posted by: hellodave - 2005-10-10, 07:40 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (4)

I've been using GB-PVR for a while, but this is my first post on the forum Smile I've also had this problem for a while, but it's finally driven me nuts!

Sometimes when I schedule a recording, the GB-PVR recording service will crash right at the start of the programme, so I end up with a 0 byte mpeg file. This will only happen on the second or subsequent recordings after the PC is first booted, never the first recording of the day (the PC is not on 24/7). It also only happens when recording on certain channels (BBC 3 for example). The channels are tuned in correctly, and I have set the frequency in the DVB-t tuning ini file to the one reported by WinTV 2000 for each mux. If I restart the recording service I will get a perfect recording, but obviously with the first part missing. I don't know if it's related, but some channels (ITV 2 from memory, possibly BBC 3) show up with a green bar filling 1/4 of the screen when viewed in Live Preview mode.

Another (I suspect) unrelated problem, but every time I click "OK" in the config app, I will get a .net runtime error (with "continue" or "quit" buttons), guaranteed.

I've attached a screenshot of the recording service error. The recording service is set to automatically restart on failure, but Windows doesn't detect a failure and restart it until I click "OK" on the error message dialog, so I still miss all my recordings if I'm out and the service crashes! Sad

I am using the following setup -

Athlon 3500+, 1Gb RAM, Nova-t 90002 TV card, Win XP SP2, Cyberlink Mux

Any ideas? Smile

These are my log files from a crash yesterday. The first log file goes up to the point where the recording service crashed -

  I screwed up my sound?
Posted by: btanner - 2005-10-10, 07:20 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (3)

Sorry, but this is a dumb question.

Basically, I uninstalled a bunch of software from Windows XP, all what I thought was free (crappy) software that came with most of my hardware. Well, I must have uninstalled my MPEG-2 Decoder at some point, because I couldn't play MPEGs through GBPVR or WMP. I also couldn't watch live TV with GBPVR (only got the sound).

I checked the config tool and it had no video or audio decoders listed.

So, I installed the Cyberlink PowerDVD demo. Windows media player now plays video again, with sound.

I went through config, set things up, but I still have no sound in GBPVR (except live TV). I think I have tried every combination of audio decoder (options are MPEG audio decoder or Cyberlink audio decoder) with every choice of renderer.

So... no sound. Anyone have any ideas.

Sorry in advance, I hate no having any idea what I'm doing, and sorry to be asking dumb questions.

  OSD/Guide onscreen stutter.
Posted by: mikenl - 2005-10-10, 06:50 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - No Replies

Ok, after i've my system smoothed out, i got one last thing,
whenever the osd or the guide is onscreen the picture has a slight stutter in it.
Every second or so. It happens with vmr9 & 7 and overlay.
A different playback decoder is no option since i only get good results with the Intervideo ones. All others produce a horizontal pan stutter.
Is this something that i have to live with or can i get it out ?

Setting up GP-PRV in a Client Server Model
Posted by: DangerMouse - 2005-10-10, 06:39 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (3)

Can any one give me a brief run down on whether it is possible to set up GP-PRV on a PC with a TV-Card and then stream any content on that PC (including live content from the TV card) to another PC. I've heard this is possible but don't know anything about it.

What are the limitations (if any) of doing this? What kind of quality can be expected over a wireless network?

Any tips on setting up a config like this would be appreciated as I intend attempting it within the next few days!

Thanks

  really messing things up now...
Posted by: dflipb - 2005-10-10, 06:36 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (1)

ok here we go again...I am finally able to watch hdtv on GBPVR! yeah! but now I'm trying to record it. It doesn't seem to work at all. In fact, it now crashes the program. If i set up a program to record, it just doesn't record it at all, it just makes the file with 0kb. =(

and the other thing I'm having is that since i tried to get the hd stations in my list, they were working for about a day,now they just seem to have dropped out

  PAL switching bug
Posted by: carc - 2005-10-10, 05:40 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (2)

Hi all,

I don't know, if this is a real bug, and if I'm mistaken, please tell me... I experience following problems with this otherwise great PVR soft:

1) Czech Republic is missing from the country list... I have to select GERMANY, DENMARK, POLAND or ROMANIA....

2) To get sound properly here, only ROMANIA works... I have found out that PVR software has problems with our TV norm and stereo sound... Have to switch it to mono to sound properly. Romania solves this one in GB-PVR...

3) The above might not be that annoying..... But GB-PVR switches tv norm to NTSC-M on any bootup, which is a real pain..... I have to use GraphEdit each time I boot up and select proper norm manually (PAL-B)....

Would be GREAT if fixed in new versions....

Big salutes to the developer. Keep up the GOOD work!

Regards,

Markus

location: Czech Republic

tuner: Sapphire 550pro

comp: WinXP pro SP2, Athlon XP 2600+, 1GB etc... etc... Latest drivers on everything. No overclocking.

  2nd Device problem
Posted by: davisj36 - 2005-10-10, 05:38 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (12)

Ok. I've searched and read several threads about simular problems but nothing recent.... Here my problem: I have just added a second card to my system and I'm having a recording problem. The first device is on cable and the second is on a sat dish. Live TV works great. IE. I pick channal 3 from cable and it picks up the correct card to record it. I pick channel 200 and it picks up the other device and again it works great. Now when I'm trying to record (not livetv) something off cable (channel 3) but it's trying to record it off the wrong device.

Device 1 - PVR150MCE
Device 2 - PVR350

Anyone have any ideas why livetv works but recording does not? I'm using the latest version of GBPVR (94.13)

Thanks
