Something to look into as a maintenance fix at some point. If an XMLTV datasource is empty (i.e. because the grabber was down or some other unknown reason why the xmltv file would be empty), GBPVR outputs a dialog box that has to be responded too before PostUpdateEPG.bat will run. Ideally, this information should go into the GBPVRRecodingService.exe.log file instead of to a screen dialog box which has to be responded to manually.
Typically, GBPVR for me is running pretty much forgotten unless something doesn't look right in the recording schedule. The only way I detected this was by actually going to the machine that GBPVR runs on and seeing the hung dialog box.
I bought MVP from Radioshack this week, got connected to the GBPVR, and everything is fine, but I am thinking that MVP is just not ready for Primetime yet!!
My biggest problem with MVP is not been able to play ISO or DVD mounted via various means.
I have moded Xbox that I use for my primary means to watch DVD or recorded shows using GBPVR on my PC, and I was hoping that I could replace XBOX with MVP, but I am not sure if I will do that.
Yes, it is much nicer to use with GBPVR and MVP Combo, but without not been able to play ISO, I will have to wait for another mature product to come.
I know you can convert to MPG, but I want to keep all my dvd collection in ISO as library ready to burn.
Anyone knows that if new MVP will have that capbility and enhanced/polished UI?
Thanks again for great GBPVR product.. It just works... rob
I had GBPVR installed some time ago, left it quite unused, but want to start (actively) using it now.
I installed the newest version and the excellent BlueMC2 skin. All up and running perfectly.
Now I'm a little confused about the plugin(s) I want to install. I already picked MyMusic for maintaining and accessing my mp3 collection. For video I am not sure. I don't access DVD's, Divx or alike with GBPVR. I just want to record -a lot- and view it later.
The default "Recording" seems to work nice but I like fancy stuff so maybe there's something more fancy out there for me.
But which suits best for me? MyVideo? (does it do recordings?) or Xrecord or perhaps VideoArchiver?
The problem: after watching nearly all of a program, exiting back to the menu either via stop (on the remote) or Back/Exit (silver hauppauge), GBPVR crashes.
My take: looks like something I broke in the skin, mine is heavily modified.
The catch: it doesn't do it if I start the program from the beginning and only watch it for a few minutes. It only dies if I watch basicly the entire program, then try to exit out.
Just thought I'd share this because I am happy it got it to work and somebody else may want to try it too.
Just hooked up my MVP to a Linksys WRT54G router in the bedroom.
Another WRT54G is downstairs in the garage (internet gateway & wired connection to GBPVR PC).
Bedroom router is flashed with DD-WRT 23Beta (http://www.dd-wrt.com/) and running the Client Bridge mode connecting it to the Garage router.
This means the ethernet ports of both routers are bridged over the wireless interface.
Works like a charm !
DD-WRT even allows you to increase the transmit power of the wireless by up to 900%.
I now have wireless reception with my laptop in the back of the garden from the garage router.
c2avi wasn't processing some of my mpgs because no commercials were found but comclean was renaming the files anyway. It would rename the mpgs to _original when nothing was done, leaving no .mpg left in the directory.
I edited comclean.bat to do a variable check for cutpoints. If there were no cutpoints found, it will not do any moving/renaming.
Just replace the "move" lines with the below:
if DEFINED cutpoints move "%~dpn1.mpg" "%~dpn1_original.mpg"
if DEFINED cutpoints move "%~dpn1_clean.mpg" "%~dpn1.mpg"
Off the main menu of a DVD you usually have "Play Movie" "Setup" "Special Features" etc. With the mouse you can just click on one however navigationg via a remote control you rely on the left, right, up, and down and without knowing what your current selection in there is no way to navigate. I have to guess where the cursor is at.
Hi
Has anyone succeed to set gbpvr to have audio at TV while in Poland? I have tried many settings but no audio. TV card is from Sapphire (Theatrix 550 Pro)
Please help
Having been using GB-PVR for a few weeks I'd thought I'd check out some of the plugins. Tried Music Albums 2, Shutdown and Weather but they all are not showing on the main menu
Following the wiki I put the dll's into c:\program files\denvnz\gbpvr\plugins
They show up under the plugins tab of the config app but not on the main menu.
And before you say noob, yes they are all ticked to show
