I wanted to ask peoples opinions on what kind of wireless keyboard they have/like/want. I personally want basically a keyboard with a fully functional trackball nailed to the side of it, but so far I havent seen anything that looks perfect. Also, IR/RF/Bluetooth opinions are welcome.
I like the new update and stuill messing around with the new additions. My problem is the conversion processing. Mpg to WMV works and I have audio, however the XVid & Divx gives me converted video and no audio. I need help
I'm having problems with my MVP and dongle.bin. I have to run the Hauppauge service so that the MVP picks up dongle.bin even though I do have a DHCP server (a Netgear DM602 router) in the network. I power off the MVP quite regularly so it's a little irritating to have to stop and start the Hauppauge services all the time.
Strangely the MVP will boot up immediately after renewing the IP address of the GBPVR server through ipconfig. This only seems to work once though.
My ASUS Pundit-R is connected via S/PDIF to SONY DAV-SC6. When I watch recorded TV shows, everything hears ok (as TV shows are in 2.0 - stereo modes, Sony receiver detects signal as PCM). When I want to watch DVD from GBPVR, it seems like GBPVR (or audio codec?) downsamples DD5.1 or DTS to 2.0 and passes this to my receiver as general stereo audio, which receiver spreads to all 5 loudspeakers using Pro Logic. So, the audio I could hear is not the same audio I hear then I put DVD directly to Sony DVD player. If I open the same DVD from InterVideo WinDVD or CyberLink PowerDVD which both has setup to send its audio output to S/PDIF the Sony receiver detects audio as DD5.1 or DTS and the sound field is the same as I put it directly to Sony player.
So, is there any solution / any comment on that how to "teach" GBPVR DVD player to passthrough its audio to S/PDIF not to mix with it?
Can anyone suggest a DVD / HDD Recorder based on the following criteria
- Ideally dual format DVD (+/- R & RW)
- At least 80Gb hard disk
- Has a SCART input (not a built in tuner), this is so i can plug my freeview box into it, but allow upgrade to Sky.
- Ability to connect to a PC.
If I inadvertantly try to use the remote for my PVR-350 when GBPVR doesn't have the focus, the task switcher (what happens when you alt-tab in XP pro) pops up on the computer screen and gets frozen. I can at that point click on the window that GBPVR is running in and the border changes color as if it has the focus but it's also locked up. If at that point I try to run anything else by clicking on a shortcut the properties window for the shortcut opens up rather than running the program that the shortcut points at. If I quit the application that the task switcher shows as having the focus then I can use the keyboard to control GB-PVR again but the remote at that point causes the MVP Server app to pop up and get the focus but won't control GBPVR. At that point shortcuts also function normally again. This is with 94.12 and a PVR-150, PVR-350, Sygate firewall, AVG antivirus, and MY-HD running on an MDP-120. I tried stopping all of the above first and I still get the error. It's running on a P4-2.4 with 768megs and a Rage 128.
I've been using GBPVR for a week or so and it's awesome! I'm sure we can figure out what the bug is!
Sometimes a recorded show has no audio, this happens about 1 in every 10 shows. Does anyone have any idea what causes this? Let me know if you need more info. on my system.
I'm trying to get my MediaMVP to work with GBPVR. I read the section of the gbpvr manual that says you have to set the âauto start MVP serversâ setting in the config app to â1′. I can't find this setting anywhere. I ran the GB-PVR configuration program and looked through all of the tabs, but I can't find autostart anywhere. Can someone walk me through this?
Also, how do I set the Hauppauge MediaMVP services to not start automatically?
Up until now, every single update I've done has gone flawlessly and I've been really happy with each one.
When I read about the new features, I was excited, especially the transcoding ones.
Well, I've unfortunately run into a problem. I'll paste what I've written about it previously and see if anyone can help me out:
Quote:Hey Sub,
My wife and I have enjoyed your program for a long time and with each release it gets better and better.
I eagerly updated to this latest version, and to my dismay, up came a .NET error when it tried to start the Config after installing.
I had backed up my database, so I'm not worried about losing it, and I even tried uninstalling GB-PVR and reinstalling it. I also check and I have the latest .NET framework installed on my Win2K box. I don't know the best way to give you the error, but copying-and-pasting it in, so here it is (sorry!):
Sub's reply:
Quote:It looks like you're missing a file (NativeUtilities.dll). Try reinstalling.
And then mine:
Quote:So, I tried reinstalling and the problem still happens. NativeUtilities.dll (I see where you saw that now) is there and in the right place. In fact, I can copy over the previous version I had of it (0.93.10 I think), Windows asks if I want to overwrite, I choose Yes, and Config doesn't complain about missing the file, it's just missing a method (I didn't think it'd work, I was just checking file names).
Can maybe somebody post their NativeUtilities.dll so I can compare?
That was the last of that bit, no more help was forthcoming, but I heard that a new release was being readied so I just waited patiently.
When that came out, I read this in the announcement thread from CaptainVideo:
Quote:I've tried reinstalling to no effect. I've recovered the old GBPVR directory and things seem OK now.
Some background: I had to reinstall Windows2000 because video playback kept freezing the systme on me. So the last two GBPVR installs were fresh.
I installed MDAC 2.7sp1 & .net framework 1.1.
Please Help!!
I've tried the latest update as well and it looks as though we are both in the same boat: NativeUtilities.dll is there, but the config app can't find it. We're both using Win2K and have the latest updates and patches for everything. We've both tried uninstalling and reinstalling with no luck and, I for one, have had to go back to .93.10
I had been having playback problems recently watching TV. Some skipping (so minor my wife didn't see...like a frame or two), occasional green or white squares in the picture, and once in a great while, picture freeze (but audio kept going).
I played w/ a bunch of things: demux, mpeg decoders, buffer file location, virtual mem file size and drive location, etc. It started around the time the new GB version came out, and since it was only live tv (in timeshift) and there had been the problem w/ mpeg1, I thougth it may be the problem, too (but I had a feeling this started beofre I updated, but couldn't be positive). I had even changed out my nvidia 5600 for my 5500 (not because of this...I came across reviews that the 5600 I had may be a poser, essentially).
Finally it occured to me that around the same time I also installed the 77.77 nVidia drivers. I went back to 77.72, and so far, it seems to be gone. It may be that something that 77.77 improved was just too much or not fully compatible w/ my HW and exact setup, since I don't see a lot of other people w/ same problem.
This is still just a theory. It could not be this at all, or maybe the 77.77 just had a bunk install, and a reinstall of 77.77 would fix it. But, again, it did seem to help, so I wanted to put this story out there. I know how hard it can be to pin down a problem like this sometimes, and I figured this may info someone else could use, or at least try.
