After installing Hauppauge's latest beta driver (2.0.35.23257) I am getting poor sound quality on LIVE TV. Recorded sound seems to be ok. I have installed the latest GB-PVR version. The old version behaved similarly.
I have no problems with WinTV 2000 live play back.
I just started on this whole endeavor, so please be patient.
I just bought a Media MVP, a Hauppauage WinTV 500MCE, USB-UIRT, and installed GBPVR (0.93.10). I run Windows XP Pro with SP2. I have an Athlon 2000+ running on a Giga-byte 7VRXP motherboard. This has a VIA KT333 and VIA 8233ACE north and south bridge.
The main reason for all of this was to be able to see time-shifted recordings on my TV using my home PC. Here is my problem: I can't watch live TV more than a few seconds over the MVP without my computer rebooting. When I try to watch TV on the PC I seem to be able to watch for as long as I want as long as I don't do anything. If I change a channel or do anything else, the computer reboots. I tried looking at various *.log files and I don't see anything, but I'm new to this. If you know of a file you would like to see let me know and I'll get it posted.
I can use the program that came with the 500MCE to watch TV and that doesn't cause my computer to reboot. Even when I change channels. I can use the GBPVR Tuning Assistant without any problems either. One other thing I have noticed is that after the computer reboots, most times the bios can't find the hard disks and just hangs on the boot screen. I have to physically power it down to get it to come up right. This leads me to believe that whatever causes the computer to reboot is either locking the hard drives or the south bridge. I have checked and I do have the latest drivers for the chipset.
I've tried looking throughout the forum for similar circumstances, but hardly anyone has a complete reboot just by turning on Live TV. Most posts I've read have to do with periods of functionality before something bad happens. So, I assume something in the live tv process is going catastrophically wrong.
I've recently bought the above TV tuner and wasn't impressed with the software so went hunting for an alternative. GBPVR looked like a slick choice and so I installed it. I think I've got it configured correctly, and when I scan for channels I get a full list. I can also hear the channels when I select them, but the viewing pane shows nothing.
I hoped it was a problem with the preview pane so I assigned all the channels and went to "Live TV". I got a blank screen, a few seconds of sound and then nothing. Every time I try it I get the same - GBPVR hangs after a few seconds and I have to force it to close. And I never get any picture.
I would like to install this software, but want to make sure I dont have to do all these weird tweaks, add-on, editing config files, just to use HD. Thanks!
I'm having trouble with the Guide functionality. It's not updating at all past the first time I grab the guide.
I've got a Hauppauge PVR500 with both tuners configured for ZapToIt. Neither the automatic EPG update, manually updating from the Config utility, or right-clicking on the GBPVR icon and hitting Update EPG are working correctly. It seems to work correctly -- that is, it downloads data from ZapToIt, then "processes" it, then "saves" it (I confirmed the downloading via my network logs but I can't confirm the processing of saving), but when it comes to actually seeing the guide in GBPVR I am unable to.
Please let me know what logs or additional information I need to post in order for assistance. Thanks a bunch in advance.
i noticed in the schedule under "T" are all the titles starting with "The"... this is probably the fault of zap2it for naming things "The X" instead of "X, The". but if gbpvr could filter "The X" to "X, The" then they would be sorted properly. Same thing for things starting with the words "A" or "An" but there are much fewer of those.
i chose a show to record that happened to start exactly at the same time as an already-programmed show ended. but i have end-padding set to 5 minutes... shouldn't that generate a conflict somewhere? it didn't complain either when i entered the second program, or when i selected "conflicts". which one takes priority in that 5 minute overlap?
If I set this value to 1 then whenever I start GBpvr the server should start also correct? I ask cause I am having to manually start the server every time through the gbpvr start menu.
I'm experiencing the following intermittently and was wondering if anyone else had noticed it.
Sometimes, but ONLY sometimes, I can start the Config app., click OK to exit (without making any changes) then when I open the main app., the most recent recordings in 'Whats New' have disappeared. The recording files are still there, just the info in the database file has disappeared during compaction. Also, any one-off recordings I've recently scheduled go missing from the Pending page. Specifically, it seems that any recordings before midnight (i.e., the previous day's recordings and older) will still be there - just anything recorded or one-off schedules since midnight go missing.
I've discovered that I can copy the gbpvr.mdb.original back in to place and that has everything expected. NOTE - this is not the same problem as the gbpvr.mdb going missing / being renamed as old.mdb - I've never seen that.
If nobody else has seen this then I can only assume I have some bizarre minor corruption in my mdb file.
