  Best Quality Setting
Posted by: LAGuy - 2005-09-03, 07:28 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - No Replies

Hi Everyone,
Looking for some tried & proven quality settings that other users are already using. Just how high of a bit rate is possible that's also noticeable? I know I could try different settings forever, but thought other users could chime in on some quality settings that are working for them.

When I used to use BTV, I had a setting that recorded about 3.5 GB per hour. Right now, my best one is about 2.5 GB per hour. Doesn't look to bad, but can it be better?

If you have a setting that you like, can please post the whole setting? So that myself and others can just fill in the blanks in the config panel?
Thanks!

Weird error: Item has already been added...

Weird thing happened today - Pressed OK button on my Hauppauge 34btn remote to go into TV Guide, and got a black error dialog with:

Quote:Error: Item has already been added. Key in dictionary:"69" Key being added: "69"
No adult channels here, sorry Smile.
I've attached it for reference.

MVP Quality - Any feedback on picture quality when using MVP (direct LAN & wireless)?
Posted by: callagga - 2005-09-02, 11:39 PM - Forum: MVP & NMT - Replies (8)

Hi,

I have my PC a few rooms from the living room. The options seem to be:

a) New PC - run GBPVR directly here + wireless connection in PC for OPG
=> most expensive

b) Existing PC with MVP + try to feed LAN cable via walls to TV for connectivity
=> MVP cost + LAN cable + effort

c) Existing PC + MVP + MVP setup via wireless
=> per b) with wireless gear

BUT what I'm not sure of what picuture quality sacrifice do I get (for digital TV broadcards for example) going to set (B) and then step © above. In particular any feedback on step © wiht the wireless would be appreciated.

Cheers

  Channel Logos Not Displaying Correctly
Posted by: CurtisMinBC - 2005-09-02, 09:53 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (1)

Hello there,

I have setup the C:\Program Files\devnz\gbpvr\ChannelLogos folder and put the corresponding file named after what is displayed in config (KNOWC.gif) but still the logo does not show up.

Also for some reason comclean does not remove commercials, here is the contents of PostProcessing.bat:

comskip %1
CALL comclean
RenameRecording.exe %1
rectracker %1 > rectracker.log

RGDS & TIA

xsearch-fixed bug with rewind on list not working
xsearch-now determines the number of capture sources no need for it in the skin.
xguide-now loads proper defaults for padding
xguide-now determines the number of capture sources did not work right for 2 tuner machines.

Think of it as a VNC light. Only for MVP users.

Nothing is configurable yet. This is just a proof of concept. I will do another
release in a few days with configurable options.

  A cpl of Xrecord fixes
Posted by: capone - 2005-09-02, 05:38 PM - Forum: Old Stuff (Legacy) - Replies (2)

Just little things I came across that come up often:

- Any Scheduler listign I edit has duplictaes set to True (no matter if you change it)
- If you clear out a conflict, sometimes a show remains alone and throws an index error
- either long names or an apostrophe can throw an error in Watched (I was try to drop a "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia" as they swirtched the times)

Also, I never needed to before, but can you change priority by remote, or do you need to edit the page manually?

All this stuff is minor...just wanted to pass them along.

  renamerecording and deleting files
Posted by: Larry_L - 2005-09-02, 05:22 PM - Forum: Old Stuff (Legacy) - Replies (3)

Is there a way to have renamerecording keep only one file? Comclean/comskip work well enough for me, I really don't need the original file.

Love GBPVR, but had to order a 250G disk and I can see it will fill up quick at this rate!
