  mp3's crash my mvp!
Posted by: Studley - 2005-09-02, 04:51 PM - Forum: MVP & NMT - Replies (1)

I've somehow managed to create myself a really annoying problem; every time I play an MP3 on my MVP using GBPVR (problem doesn't occur with the hauppauge software) the MVP crashes and re-boots at the end of the track. This is proving a real pain as playing MP3's through my MVP is it's main use and I think the GBPVR is much better than the hauppauge software.

The problem started after I was messing about (following some threads on this forum) trying to get AVI's (taken on my digi camera) to play when using the pictures plug in (which I didn't ever get completely fixed anyway!). During my messing about I upgraded the hauppage software (to 2.5 23209) and GBPVR to 9310 release. I also installed ffdshow trying to get AVI's to play.

When I went back to play MP3's they kept crashing the MVP.

Since then, I've removed GBPVR, hauppauge software, ffdshow and klmcodec pack then re-installed the 'old' versions of hauppauge and GBPVR (2.4 23104 and 9211). MP3's still crashed the MVP! I've since upgraded hauppauge and GBPVR again but still the same problem!

The problem occurs both with the standard 'music library' and also the 'music player' plug-in which is great for pre-loading tracks.

Sorry for the really long thread but this problem is proving really frustrating so I hope someone can help!!

On another quick note, when I try to play 'live TV' when using GBPVR on my PC I get an error message 'Error: Object reference not set to an instance of an object'. Any ideas how to fix that?? It used to work fine. I have a hauppauge PVR250 TV card and an ATI radeon 9000 video card.

Anyone using Omega drivers for nVidia?
Posted by: capone - 2005-09-02, 03:48 PM - Forum: Hardware - Replies (2)

I thought they only made alt drivers for ATI until today. I like they idea they may boost performance, but I wonder if there is a more important benefit to using the nVidia drivers from nVidia since I use the nVidia DVD decoders.

I'm not unhappy w/ rthe nVidia drivers, and they work great. Aside from the very occasional movement issue/bluring, I'm not wanting for much. So, this is a curisosity sitting on top of that sharp edge of the pragmatic "if it ain't broke..." and "fortune favors the bold" tweaker in me Smile

Thought I would find out if there were other takers out there.

Service crashed after finishing first record
Posted by: Cape-City - 2005-09-02, 03:29 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (6)

Hi,

i had scheduled 2 records :

1 channel 16:30 - 17:00
2 channel 17:00 - 17:30

after finishing first record the gbpvrrecordservice crashed ?!?

If the recordtime overlay eachother a message appears where i can
choose what to do, but not in this case - no time conflict.

i wrote a little tool which tracks the service and when its stopped, restart
it, but this cant be the End-Solution ...

another problem was when set up the timeshift mode for one channel and
when a scheduled record starts, there comes up no message and he didnt
record the scheduled one - the timeshift is running further ....

  Issue found in v0.92.11
Posted by: drugstore_cowboy - 2005-09-02, 01:38 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - No Replies

Hey Sub,

I found an error that I can recreate consecutively and although I have not tried the latest version I don't remember seeing anything in the forums or changelogs of the new version for it. So here goes...

1. Set GBPVR to have a reoccurring recording
2. Search the "Search Guide" for the same show as the reoccurring one in the previous step and set one instance found to record - it will accept this.
3. Attempt to go into the TV Guide - it now errs with a message that the unique identifier number "blah" is already present when trying to add the unique identifier number "blah" (not the exact message but you get the idea)

I found this issue when attempting to record a repeat show on the same channel as the reoccurring shows Smile

Maybe someone with the new version can attempt this and see if it is still an issue?

  Xmedia Skin
Posted by: nightwalker - 2005-09-02, 11:32 AM - Forum: Old Stuff (Legacy) - Replies (5)

I've just downloaded the Xmedia skin to take a look.

Not having a problem as i didn't install it yet but is there a way to get to the skin without having to install all the other stuff. I keep this system absolutely clean of anything i don't use daily.

I just don't see a way to install it without giving up my system to an installer and then having to go back in and hopefully get all that back out. I've been able to look at other skins without all this and it just seemed a lot of installing just to get a peek.

  Closed Captioning?
Posted by: ibsnoozin - 2005-09-02, 09:09 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (11)

I've recently upgraded from and AiW 7500 to Powercolor's 550 and Saphire's 9800 Pro. As a somewhat computer litterate person (build all my own and others) I thought I'd be able to overcome apparent almost universal dislike for the software inccl /w the 550. I stand humbled as most things I took for granted with 7500 aren't even thought of here.
My biggest dillema is that this computer is mainly used as a glorified tv for my Deaf wife whilst she is on her computer. As a deaf person tv is useless without CC. I've scoured many boards and tv programs for info on CC and have come up with very little. I like the teamwork and cooperation I've seen so far with gbpvr and the simplicity of it make it appealing. I can't wait to try some of the plugins when I'm ready for recordings.

My question is Will/is Closed Captioning available?

Apologies if discussed elsewhere.

  VisionPlus (Twinhan) 3020C
Posted by: tombloke - 2005-09-02, 06:11 AM - Forum: Hardware - Replies (14)

Hi,
I've just installed this card and it all works fine with the Twinhan software, but I can't get it to work with GBPVR.
In the config, I have selected "BDA recording" and then "Twinhan DVB-T", "Device 1", "Southern England", "Crystal Palace"
EPG source I selected "Bleb" and then ticked 3 or 4 of the channels (for the time being) and EPG UPDATE seems to do something when clicked.

When I hit "MAP channels to EPG", I get an error message that "GBPVR was unable to start the BDA device... failed to locate the device"
This is on top of an error about not having any Cyberlink, Showshifter or Intervideo filters.

When I run the main app I don't get any live tv, but I do get all the other bits and pieces.

Where am I going wrong? Where do I start?

Cheers,
Tom
