I get the error in the subject when attempting to view a live tv channel. I just upgraded to the latest version of GBPVR. I'm using a ATI 550 card and have already tried the "0 byte" fix mention in the sticky thread. Anyone else have this problem or know what I can do to fix?

I would be interested in a brief overview of the GB-PVR design concept / approach regarding use of tuner cards and remotes. For example I am looking at setting up a PC with potentially 2 x DVB-T and 2 x DVB-S (with CI card) cards in the PC.

It seems I may potentially get 4 remotes (one with each card I buy) and custom recording software with the cards as well. So some specific questions to be more precise:

Q1 - What is the overall approach that GB-PVR uses regarding its use of IR remote & setting recording strategies.

Q2 - Do you basically configure the software to recognise 1 of the remotes then use only one? Or in my card would I need say 1 remote for teh DVB-T and another remote for the DVB-S cards?

Q3 - When scheduling a recording I assume you use GB-PVR and effectively junk any scheduled recording software that may come with the tuner cards?

Q4 - Is yes, is it possible to schedule a new timer record item (e.g. 7pm every tuesday from DVB-S channel X) from your remote control? Or do you need to use the PC's keyboard to do this?

Q5 - Does GB-PVR support all the remotes for all the tuner card it lists as being compatible?

Any other words to help clarify the remote control strategy would be great.

What I think is the culprit is possibly when I overwrote some files when unzipping ZapTools 5.2 (not 100% sure though), also for your information today I installed comclean 0.0.5, comskip 0.73, PVRPowerTray 0.09, gbweb enhanced build .26, and xrecord .361.

The progress bar seemed to be automatically displayed when the skip forward button was pressed on one of my PCs but not the others. Does anyone know how to enable it to be displayed when the skip button is displayed? I searched the config.xml but did not see it there. Thanks for your help.

This is an announcement that I was able to set up a client-server environment with multiple PCs connecting to a server which has two tuners and does the recording.

The server is sitting in my basement with a couple external USB 2.0 hard drives hooked up for additional storage.

In all, counting all the laptops, I have 6 machines connected to the server and can display its content.

I am not able to display live TV in any of the PCs and never tried. I am not sure if that is possible. I'd like to know if anyone tried and got it to work. I think it should be technically possible to do. Maybe I'll look into it.

However, the stuff that works... I shared drives and all client PCs display the same recordings as if they were local. The Pictures and MP3s are also accessible. One of my goals was to set it up so that the same UI is displayed on all PCs.

I have about 300 or 400 DivX movies, last I counted I am using up a little over 1 terabyte of storage. It is very nice to go to any PC and have the media available.

Two of the clients from above are Low Profile Tivo-like dedicated PCs. I bought them used for $150 but one had to have its power supply fan replaced because it was loud. That added $20 to the cost. In fact, I had to buy low profile 64MB Video cards with S-Video out which cost an additional $60 for both cards. I guess the total was about $250 which includes the remote controls.

I and can share more details if anyone is interested. I don't want to write too much if no one cares. I did a search and did not find too many postings on multiple PCs.

Keep up the nice work on GBPVR guys. It's a beautiful thing and getting better with every update.

any idea what I am doing wrong?

1. On my MVP with GBPVR, the top and bottom of the GBPVR menus is cut off. Is that normal?

2. When I go to the Video Library, it does not show any of the files in a folder I have mapped to a network drive on another pc. Is that normal?

Otherwise the MVP rocks.

Can anyone provide details on how to add a second video capture card to GBPVR? I’ve searched the forum and have not been able to find a concise answer.

What I did was uninstall the driver for my current Hauppauge 250, installed my 2nd 250, and reinstalled the drivers after my pc detected the new hardware. I went into GBPVR and created a new capture source, called Hauppauge 250B, the first card is Hauppauge 250A.

Apparently, GBPVR is aware of both cards, because when I click on the system tray icon and pull up recording status, it shows the status of both cards. Or is it just listing the statuses of the capture sources I’ve created, regardless of whether they’re working or not?

My issue is I can’t get the 2nd source to record. I’ve tried by programming a recording in xrecord and changing the capture source to #2 in the recording options, but this doesn’t work. I’ve tried switching the card#s, without success. What steps am I missing? Any help is much appreciated.

I'm using the latest version, everything is working well except the LiveTV on MVP. LiveTV works well on the PC, but when I choose LiveTV on the MVP menu the MVP screen changes to the initial "contacting servers" screen. I have tried with different LiveTV pre-play delay and it is now at 2000ms, and the TV card is a Hauppauge 150 PVR. After this occur, I can only recover closing the server and opening it again.
