I'm a newbie, and I have some questions that I'm sure are answered in FAQs somewhere, but for the life of me I can't find the answers. So feel free to offer answers, or direct me to places with the answers. Thanks.
1) Can I do HDTV recording?
2) When recording, does everything get converted to mpeg2? I mean, doesn't HDTV come in as a digital signal, and can't it be recorded without converting it?
3) Does anything support CableCard, so I can record "pay" channels, as well as other digital channels? (My cable company offers CableCard.)
4) Do any of the cards support component video output? If so, do gbpvr's menus show through the component video output?
5) Let's assume money is no object, and I know how to build PCs, and tweak till the cows come home. (In fact, I'm a developer.) Here's the things I'd like to be able to do:
a) Record from my cable.
b) Record (at least) one show while watching another.
c) Record and watch HDTV (as well as SD).
d) Watch via component video (if possible).
e) Use my Harmony remote to control everything.
Remember that money isn't really an issue. What do I buy? (Opinions please!)
When watching Live TV on the MVP I get a brief (second or two) pause that appears to occur whenever a new show begins. Is this normal or is there some way to resolve this?
Is it possible to display the information from Netradio (Artist / song / etc) to the main menu or vapanel? It is already great, but with this little extra tidbit it would be the icing on the cake, the cherry on the ice cream Sunday, you get the pictures. Or is this already being done?
I've installed the enhanced web admin and have 2 tuner cards : one is a Hauppauge PVR 150 the other is a Hauppauge WinGoTV (software encoder) with the Software Recorder plugin installed.
Once I was able to record shows at once scheduled through the web interface, but now I can't get it to work. It'll record one show at a time using the PVR150, but won't record the second show. I can schedule a show with the web interface and manually set a show to record.
Is there something special I need to do or is this a limitation of the web interface?
Can anybody recommend a digital tv set-top box (UK), which they've managed to get working with an IR blaster, ideally the one included with the PVR 150? I'd be particulalry interested in hearing about top-up TV compatible boxes, but the others would be of interest too.
These last weeks GBPVR has become slower and slower when exiting a video playback.
I believe this is due to the "prompt for resume" feature: if I deactivate it then the menu shows up immediatley. If I reactivate it then I have to wait for 4 to 5 seconds before the menu is displayed.
Is there any way to speed this is up? It didn't use to be that slow in the beginning. Maybe the database storing the resume information for each recording has become too heavy... Can I clean it up? Should I reinstall GBPVR?
Could the weather plugin be made NOT to download it's info, before gbpvr opens? It seriously increases the time involved, especially if the internet is at peak, or for someone on dialup.
It would be nice if it worked like the old version, which only downloaded and displayed the info AFTER one had gone into the actual plugin.
