Two cards - bad recording on digital one
Posted by: jonmck - 2005-07-30, 07:33 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - No Replies

I have T200 and PVR 250.,

Recorded perfectly when just T200 in the PC

When PVR 250 in, recordings skip all the time - and get garbled.

Is there anything wihtin GBPVR that would help this?

  Saving Recording Info
Posted by: jerry430 - 2005-07-30, 02:17 PM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (10)

I seem to periodically lose my recording info, though the video files are saved in the Video Library. It happened last month when I tried to install a plugin, and last week when I did a Checkdisk.
Is there some way that I can periodically manually save the EPG recording info to another file, so that I can copy it back to GBPVR when I lose it?

  Reboots playing .wmv via MediaMVP
Posted by: Endoc - 2005-07-30, 12:22 PM - Forum: MVP & NMT - Replies (12)

Greetings-

I'm new to the GB-PVR idea. This software is amazing and the discussions in this forum has been most helpful in getting me up and going. There is one issue that I can't seem to get a handle on.

.wmv and .avi will play flawlessly in the GBPVR application in Windows, but not through the MediaMVP client, yet no problem playing them through the Hauppage MediMVP Client. So, my guess is there must be a problem with the GB-PVR client software or the videos plugin.

When I try, the screen on the TV goed blank for about 5 seconds, followed by the intro screen where the MVP is trying to connect to a server. Occasion
onally the MVP will get stuck on the black screen and not respond to any commands other than to power off and restart.

I've combed the forums for answers, but have not found any. Is this a known limitation or is there a fix?

  Hauppuage WinTV PVR-USB2
Posted by: RedPenguin - 2005-07-30, 11:18 AM - Forum: Hardware - No Replies

I notice a tad bit of bluring in the MPEG2s that are created even though when watching it before it records, there is no real blur coming in from the TV channel.

Do I need a higher bitrate or something?

  Free disk space monitor
Posted by: Remco - 2005-07-30, 11:00 AM - Forum: Community Announcements - Replies (37)

I made a little utility that monitors the free disk space on a diskdrive. When it gets below a certain level; it sends an email so you can clean up some recordings.

It's an DOS-style executable, so you can add it to PostProcessing.bat to automatically check the free disk space after each recording.

Usage: disklimit.exe -disk <disk> -limit <limit> [-messagefile <filename>]
<disk> : The name of the disk you want to monitor. E.g. c or d
<limit> : The limit, that triggers the alarm. E.g. 10gb or 123421342134
<filename> : (optional) If you want an email to be send, you have to specify the emailparameters in a file. An example of this file is included.

Source-files are included

Update: version 1.42
- added a new mailing engine again Smile
- fixed SMTP-authentication
- added support for SSL. Add |SSL:true to the messagefile

Update: version 1.3
- added a new mailing-engine, smtp.dll is not needed anymore
- added the possibility to set the server-port in the messagefile, see message-with-auth.txt for an example
- added the possibility to set the username and password for SMTP-authentication in the messagefile, see message-with-auth.txt for an example

Update: version 1.2
- in the messagefile, you can use %D to include the disk that is monitored in the email
- in the messagefile, you can send the email to multiple addresses by seperating them with a ;

Update: version 1.1
-Added support for monitoring network shares. E.g. disklimit.exe -disk \\server\share -limit 10gb

Hope you like it.
Remco

I've got no channels in gbpvr
Posted by: Peter-Cph - 2005-07-30, 09:29 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (17)

Hi there.
Just installed a pvr-150 card in my pc. WinTV2000 registered all 34 channels and works great. Obviously I wanted to switch to gbpvr to get EPG.
The EPG (o2grabber) works so far as I can see what's on in the tv-guide. However I can't watch tv in gbpvr.
I tried using the tuning assistant. But it didn't help.
How do I get gbpvr to register the channels already in WinTV2000?
Kind regards.

Thank's for your help.

PC Monitor resolution problems with GBPVR
Posted by: KiwiKid - 2005-07-30, 06:41 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (6)

Hi - I've recently upgraded to a 19" LCD monitor and discovered issues that go with high-res (everything seems formatted for 800x600).

In the GBPVR screens everything is really big - like the text and stuff. Can I change this for my res 1280x1024? I currently have my desktop scaled to 120 DPI amd the monitor is running in its native res so I don't want to change that.

Any suggestions? Thanks

What's a Good Spec for HTPC?
Posted by: KiwiKid - 2005-07-30, 06:23 AM - Forum: Hardware - Replies (24)

Hey all,

I'm wondering what a good spec would be for a HTPC so there is no overkill or underkill - obviously to keep the cost to a minimum.

I'm currently thinking of an AMD CPU. What speed should I get? What does that 2800, 3000 number mean? Does the socket type make any difference?

How many PCI slots do I need? Is PCIe necessary? What about SATA?

I want to run a stand-alone HTPC. The main uses are HD-based DVD watching, TV recording, Music and Pics (The main 4)

And just so you know, I've never had a HTPC before, a while I know a little about puters I'm certainly no geek so please be patient. Also, I have been looking at GBPVR for a while, although I don't have a TV card to play with that side of things. There is still a lot I don't know about how things work

Thanks in advance - KiwiKid
