  TV Wonder+PVR 150 in GBPVR?
Posted by: ejeffers - 2005-07-11, 10:33 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (2)

I used to use (and still own) an ATI TV WONDER PRO. After using it for about a week I realized how badly it sucked. Currently I am using The PVR150 in my machine and the TV Wonder is out. My auestion is whether or not I will be able to use my TV WONDER PRO as a second tuner in GB-PVR?

  Feature requests and my views!
Posted by: esajesa - 2005-07-11, 09:10 PM - Forum: Wishlist - Replies (4)

Hi!

First off, thanks, excellent application! Been playing with it the whole day now, and I have a few thoughts and a few ideas on features:

1. In the TV Guide, when you highlight a show, it'd be nice if the start-end times would appear in the show description in the bottom of the screen.

2. If I choose a show that's currently on, it'd be nice to be able to jump straight to Live TV.

3. Just as I can press F1 to go straight to the TV Guide, F2 to go to Live TV, I'd like to be able to press, say F9, or whatever, to go straight to Recordings.

4. When I'm in Live TV and I press F1 I won't go to the "big" tv guide, but some smaller version overlayed on the screen. My personal preference would be to go to the "real" guide, and have a different button pressed for the small, overlayed one. This way navigation via eg. a remote can be made more exact and controlled.

5. It would be nice to have some sort of indication of the GBPVR Recording Service status if you open up the OSD in Live TV.

Ok.. Then on to the "BIG" feature request(s) of the day!

1. Since there's already a girder client built in (for the channel changer part), it'd be SOOOO nice to have it evolved to send more info, in other events such as which panel I'm on (eg. Live TV, TV Guide, Recordings, DVD etc etc), recording status, perhaps even which menu buttons there are on the screen.

2. Then of course, a majour user of Girder as I am, I'd like to have a remote port for controlling GBPVR, preferably one for the GUI and one for the Recording service stuff. I'd like to be able to send commands such as UP, DOWN, ENTER, TVGUIDE, LIVETV, CHANNEL1, CHANNEL2, etc etc..

The reason I ask for these features is that I use Girder in conjunction with NetRemote, and I love softwares that can be controlled in a good fashion, as well as provide feedback. Right now I've used the Channel Changer with Girder to provide some sort of feedback, but it'd be lovely to have it properly done with the ability to get feedback on other things as well.

Otherwise, I love it!!! Keep up the good work!!!

Cheers,
Jens

  Live tv creates recording
Posted by: sephiro499 - 2005-07-11, 09:04 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (1)

Why is it every time i watch live tv it creates a movie file? Shouldn't the stream be sent to a temp folder and deleted?

  Snapstream Firefly with GBPVR
Posted by: JohnL - 2005-07-11, 08:36 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (4)

Hello all. I must say I am very satisfied with GBPVR thus far. Big Grin Although I am running into a problem with my remote (the hauppauge one was failing, plus I like this one better)
I have used the howto at http://gbpvr.com/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Manual/Firefly to try and get things working, but the only buttons that work are the direction, OK, and volume/channel buttons. The rewind, FF, skip buttons do not. I tried fiddling with the settings in gbpvr.xml, but none of the combinations I have tried have worked. I also am trying to get the music button to work and I am not having any luck there either. Has anyone here gotten one of these working without any problems? how'd you do it? Can I steal your .xml files to make mine work? Thanks!

  running comclean manually
Posted by: afriend1 - 2005-07-11, 07:22 PM - Forum: Old Stuff (Legacy) - Replies (5)

After hours of gleaning through these posts, I ran the following postprocessing.bat with my most recent recording because I had a bunch of programs I recorded without any plugins. I was hoping to find commercials on all previously recorded shows (comskiphelper), remove them (comclean), save the original and a new commercial-free copy (for comparison purposes- I found the modification for comclean.bat to leave both copies), and then rename each show with it's episode name (renamerecordings).

ComskipHelper.exe > ComskipHelper.log
call comclean.bat %1 >comclean.log
RenameRecordings.exe > renamerecordings.log

The only thing that seemed to work was comskiphelper. It went through each folder and generated a .log and a .txt file for each episode. I also checked a couple of episodes and the commercial breaks are indicated. With any new shows I'll drop comskiphelper and substitute comskip and then probably need help tweaking my postprocessing.bat.

But right now I want to tweak my comskip.ini settings. How do I run it manually? ...in a comman prompt window? Can you give me example?

Thanks!

  Recording Stops
Posted by: ejeffers - 2005-07-11, 07:13 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (2)

While watching Live TV(not Timeshifted) I will press the record button. Then GB-PVR will begin to record the show I am watching. However, when I exit back to the main Menu the recording stops. Is there any way to fix this? Because it gets to be quite annoying.

  Good US TV Content?
Posted by: tomahawk51 - 2005-07-11, 05:59 PM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (2)

So now that I have setup the MVP, PVR150, and gotten the fiancee to sign off (thanks to GB-PVR); now what to watch?

I have caught some interesting programs like the old school Twilight Zone on Sci-fi, but I am interested in any good web sites people might know to alert me to must see shows. Any out there?

How to find TV standard in another country
Posted by: GoodGuys - 2005-07-11, 02:34 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (1)

Hi all,

I had a friend who visited China and said he might be able to find me a TV-card on the cheap out there. Don't know if it's true, but before sending him a list of cards I wanted to check what TV standard is out there, to be sure it fits in my country.

I found these sites:
http://www.users.bigpond.com/msn/3D_Soft...ystems.htm - gives exact standard (including PAL B/G/I, etc).
http://www.mindfully.org/Resource/Video-...World.htmp - 2 lists, sorted by country name and by TV standard.

Might be useful for some of you sometimes.
