DirecTV Control through serial low speed data port
Posted by: cheval - 2005-06-15, 12:45 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (1)

Good news! An alpha release is being tested for a control and channel changer program to control a direcTV RCA receiver. The receiver needs to be hooked up through the PCs serial port.

The control application will have the ability to control all features available through the low speed data port protocol. This includes channel changing, remote control key emulation, power control, and date retrieval.

The channel changer is directed just a scalled down version that changes the channels and that all.

Once I can get it tested fully, I will release it to the wiki page.

How to set GBPVR to always on top as default?
Posted by: venger - 2005-06-15, 12:24 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (7)

Hi all,

I have been searching the forums for Always On Top feature in GBPVR - and according to an old post, the GBPVR icon has a context menu option which turns on this feature.

I right clicked on the GBPVR taskbar icon and found "Toggle Force to Foreground". However, I find that GBPVR still starts up behind some of my windows (eg windows explorer). Is this a manual feature?

Is there an automatic way of doing this - ie when GBPVR starts up, it is immediately/automatically always on top?

thanks,

BTW, finally got my gbpvr working fully with my MCE remote 2005 - Thanks to Artbatista and Technogeek for their helpful posts! (fyi, I settled on HIP and amazingly, it works quite well with the native driver!)

  DVD Root Menu
Posted by: nobody481 - 2005-06-15, 12:20 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (2)

Is there a keyboard shortcut to jump to a DVD's root menu? I have a DVD that starts out playing a 30 minute clip before it goes to the main menu. I've been fast-forwarding through it, but it would be much better if I could just jump to that menu.

Thanks!

  Browsing Mini-Guide
Posted by: jsteele - 2005-06-14, 11:39 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (2)

The Browsing Mini-Guide (Ctrl-G / Green Button) stopped working for me. When in LiveTV if I press the green button I get the green Mini-Guide bar and the current channel logo but nothing else --- no program data. Up/down changes the channel but there is no program data on any channel in this mode. The On Screen Guide F1 works fine as its supposed to as does the Info overlay.

The full on screen Guide has the correct program data so I know the database is OK.

Everything is properly in partial transparency (VMR9) and it just the program data of the mini-guide that isn't working

  TVTome.com is no more
Posted by: reven - 2005-06-14, 10:59 PM - Forum: Community Announcements - Replies (13)

TVTome.com is no more, that means episode lookup/browse in my videos wont work anymore. it looks like cnet now owns all the info and changed it to "tv.com" with a completely different layout, that means i have to completely rewrite the code to get the episode info (luckily, uni holidays start next week, so it shouldn't take me to long, and i always use this feature so its high priority).

After pausing live TV, can't rw/ff/skip anymore!?
Posted by: skiingyac - 2005-06-14, 07:21 PM - Forum: MVP & NMT - Replies (9)

I have a problem where if I am in live TV mode on the MVP, I can use the skip forward/backward buttons and they work as expected. However, once I press the pause button, I then can no longer do anything other than play or pause, skipping forward/backward doesn't work.

I looked through the gbpvr log, and I can see where gbpvr gets the skip commands and calculates what position (in seconds) to jump to, but then just continues to send the next chunk of the file instead of changing offsets.

I'm using the latest gbpvr and the latest hauppauge drivers for my pvr-150, and the 2.4 23104 beta mvp software (is that even used by gbpvr?). I've tried the hauppauge and intervideo drivers, enabling/disabling live preview (don't think this matters on the mvp), and various other things to no avail.

Since the skip buttons work before hitting pause, and the gbpvr process gets as far as calculating where to skip to, but then continues from its current position in the file, it seems like this is a bug.

here's what I assume are the important log lines, but I can send the whole thing if needed:

Code:

  Reccomended Hardware
Posted by: theman - 2005-06-14, 07:20 PM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (12)

I've been trying to find what the recommended hardware to run this program is, and have had to break down and ask a really noob-like question. I understand the hardware recommendations as far as the video encoding card go but I was wondering in terms of CPU and Memory horse power of the computer being used what would be the recommended minimum to run GB-PVR? Also I would like to be able to record as well as watch live TV at the same time. Tia, theman.

  Mplayer Encoding problem? corrupt files.
Posted by: gizzymo - 2005-06-14, 07:18 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (2)

Hi all

I have a strange strange problem with using mplayer encoder for post processing:

The command line below works perfectly if a programme is say under approx 1hr 15 mins, but if its much more than that the file encodes sucessfully, or appears to. The resulting file is corrupt, and cant be played in media player, media player classic etc.

mencoder.exe f:\gbconvert\source.mpg -oac mp3lame -lameopts mode=2:cbr:br=128 -ovc lavc -lavcopts vcodec=mpeg4:vhq:vbitrate=2000 -ffourcc DIVX -o d:\data\file.mpg

Any suggestions would be much appreciated!

Pete

p.s. disk space is not an issue, have checked that!

I have a Hauppauge pvr150 with remote and wanted to know if there is an option or way to make it so I can launch the gbpvr from my desktop without having to use a keyboard or mouse. Thanks for the help, I'm really enjoying this piece of software.
