Different Black & white Issue (i think)
Posted by: KPoulton - 2005-05-07, 06:38 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (2)

HI, a newbie on here, but have searched for articles on people having black and white picture issues, and nothing seems to match mine.

I am setting up a MS MCE 2005 machine,
Key components

The WinTV-PVR-500MCE
a G Force FX 5700 Graphics Card
and using the PowerDVD Decoding Software version 6

Looking to link the NTL Digital Feed into the card using the S-VHS cable
(its actually SCART at the NTL end, and S-VHS + Audio Jacks at the PC End)

Have got it giving me good quality audio and picture, with the exception that I cant get the picture in colour, all menus etc are being displayed in colour.

I have made sure that all the drivers are the very latest, swapped all cables, even tried swapping the video card and PVR card. I also tried swapping the Scart socket i was feeding from on the NTL box.

(I also looked to take the feed using the S composite, but get no signal detected in MCE)

I have hit that
'Run out of ideas stage'

Anyone got any suggestions on what to try?

Any comments most welcome at this point

Thanks
Kevin

  Recording service not starting (exception)
Posted by: 40thFloor - 2005-05-07, 04:17 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (4)

A while ago I put in a second video subsystem (as primary). No problems, and recorded/watch a few things since. Today, I thought I'd give Live TV (not timeshift) a second try. Config popped a msgbox saying it was restarting the recording service, and ... only the mouse cursor moved, and then very slowly. I wound up having to hard power off. No big deal (file system all okay), but now, no go with my mojo (and the recording service doesn't start, either).

Suggestions? Re-install 912 over 912, without uninstalling? Or is the event viewer message below good enough to determine the problem and I can just replace a fuse or something. Maybe a scrambled config file? This event message is right from boot.

When I try to start gbr it pops a do-you-want-to-debug JIT msgbox. Same msgbox when I try to start config.

  Crash on channel scan.
Posted by: jrronimo - 2005-05-07, 02:21 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (1)

I'm running a TwinHan VisionPlus PCI with the 1.2.1.2 BDA drivers using an XCard for output in Windows Server 2003.

I got my mpgmux.ax from the FlyTV DTV_1.02 download set.

I have an EPG (what a pain to obtain down here in Australia!).

I've added the EPG, and when I click 'Map digital channels to EPG channels', the box opens up saying that it is going to scan and the machine bluescreens and requires resetting.

Any solutions? Should I search for a different mux? Should I try Spectrum's Drivers? Should I give up?

  How do I disable TimeShifting?
Posted by: sabrewulf165 - 2005-05-07, 01:27 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - No Replies

Just installed GBPVR with my Sapphire Theatrix 550 Pro last night, and so far I have been very impressed with the ease of setup compared to some other frontends I have tried. The feature set seems to be pretty rich, also, which is nice. I'm already getting much better picture quality than I was with Cyberlink's crappy OEM software. However...

I accidentally started timeshifting mode while I was testing the functionality of my sapphire remote. I pressed the "pause" button, and sure enough it paused the feed, but then a screen came up stating that timeshifting was being enabled, to please wait. It hung there and I had to restart GBPVR, but after that it works fine... well, sort of. Now it starts timeshifting mode every time I start live TV, which isn't what I want. Can anyone tell me how to disable this? Another weird thing is that I'm unable to change channels while in timeshifting mode.

Thanks for any help!

*EDIT* oops, just RTFM and figured it out :o Big Grin

  Failed recordins workaround
Posted by: xsherlock - 2005-05-07, 12:19 PM - Forum: Wishlist - Replies (1)

My setup, as may others with PVR350 using PVR TV-OUT is still producing occasionally lockups on the PVR350 decoder/encoder. Despite the fact i tried all possible drivers it still happens once a few days. From one moment every next recording is a 0 byte file, nor i cant play any valid recording (gives blank screen). So this leads to the conclusion that the lockup occurs at the end of last scheduled recording.

The only remedy is to reboot the PC. Restarting gbpvr or recoridng service doesn't help.

Sub, could you please add a feature that if the recording service detects that the actual recorded show file remains 0 bytes it would reboot the PC. This could be an option in the Config. Or at least check ofter the recording if the file size > 0. I know you gave up on the PVR350 development but this should be a quick fix.

Unfortunately PVR TVout output quality is so good it is hard to give it upon the card. Does anyone knows of the card that would have dedicated tv-out with same quality?

Regards
Maciej

  Switching Decoders
Posted by: Lexus - 2005-05-07, 07:50 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (2)

Hi,
Is there anyway i can change the hardware decoder from the command prompt? i would like to run a batch file from the computer to view through software decoder or when i have activated gb-pvr through my remote on my television i would like it to use my Hauppauge PVR350.

So if a simple command prompt line is avalible please let me know.

Thanks
Lexus Smile
