  Dual Tuner setup
Posted by: garygamb - 2005-04-26, 11:53 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (5)

I have two capture cards:

PVR250 as Capture Source #1
PVR350 as Capture Source #2 (using the TV-Out with this one)

The PVR250 is hooked to my digital cable box via SVideo and my PVR350 is hooked directly to the analog cable jack in the wall. Thus, I have about 900 channels on the PVR250 and 76 on the PVR350. The PVR250 does share the same channels as the PVR350, but obviously the PVR250 is the only card that can record the channels above #76

I went out of town this last weekend and wanted to test how my system handled waking up from Stand By to record shows I setup to record in advance. I set this up at around noon on Friday. All of the shows I setup for Friday are blank. It appears that GBPVR recorded just blackness....the file sizes are all 1Gig plus, so it appears it tried to record something.

Some of my shows on Saturday recorded just fine, but some are blank as well. And all of my shows for Sunday are blank as well.

I am using GBPVRWake, but I'm not sure I had it configured correctly until this evening, but would this even matter if it was all the recording service doing the work anyways?

Is this just an inherent problem with a dual tuner setup? Is there anyway in the future to set which tuner in a dual tuner setup is doing the recording for a channel? Anyway to get info on which tuner did the actual recording when the show is recorded from within the GUI so that we can troubleshoot if it is a specific capture card with a problem?

Overall, anyone have any pointers for me in regards to what is best for this setup?

  Webcam listings?

Anyone have any good webcam list sites (for cam feeds that work with the plugin)?
Just looking for general stuff, of any interest.

  New DVD writer
Posted by: Padawson - 2005-04-26, 10:26 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (1)

I have the Benq DW1620 DVD writer which I want to install.
I already have a DVD player and CD writer (48x12x48x). Which should I get rid of?

What about the software? I have the ulead dvd movie factory supplied with the PVR-350. How does the Ahead Nero (supplied with the DVD writer) compare - which should I get rid of?

  Teletext subtitles
Posted by: Padawson - 2005-04-26, 10:14 PM - Forum: Wishlist - No Replies

On my teletext tv the page 888 (subtitles) automatically allows viewing of the programme and does not cover the whole screen with a black background!
It would be great to have subtitles working properly on GB-PVR.

  Skin: nkh-red1
Posted by: nkh - 2005-04-26, 08:22 PM - Forum: Community Announcements - Replies (1)

I'll put it in the wiki once I figure out how to get a login...

nkh-red1-beta1-1.rar

It currently supports the following screens: Main, TV guide (8 channels and full description), Live Guide (moved to the top of the screen showing 3 channels, with two lines of description at the bottom of the screen), Search Guide, Recordings, Video Library, Music Library, Net Radio, News Feeds (v4.5), Weather (v3b), My Music (v2.1) and My Pictures (v2.1). (note, version numbers are just the ones I have tested the skin with, other versions may work too).

These plugins are required (for the panels on the main screen, you can turn them off in /nkh-red1/main menu/skin.xml at the bottom of the file): Music Panel and News Feeds (v4.5).

The skin is made for and tested with GBpvr 0.91.12b (but I suppose it works with other 0.9x versions too).

If you run into problems with missing skins for plugins just copy the folders over from the blue skin (it'll probably look funny, but it'll at leased work).

Now for the screenshots Smile

The main menu with the diffirent backgrounds (Alfa Romeo Tipo 33 Stradale, Red and Black):

The rest of the screenshots are currently here: http://www.nk-h.dk/gbpvr/nkh-red1/

  Newbie: dual PVR-150
Posted by: mshah - 2005-04-26, 07:27 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (5)

Hi. I'm a newbie to all the PVR stuff and have been trying to research about the best setup for me. I believe the best setup for me is a dual TV card setup that will allow me to watch one channel whilst record another or record 2 channels at the same time. I want the two cards to be the same as this seems like the simple and logical solution. However it is likely I'll buy the 2nd card at a later stage. I'll be running on Windows XP. Anyway, I have a few questions which I have not been able to find out.

1. Are the PVR-150 and PVR-150MCE different products?
2. Looking at MicroDirect, it doesn't seem to come with a remote or support Windows XP which makes me believe the two products are different.
3. How does GBPVR work with 2 tuners?
4. When I set a program to record, do I have to explicitly state which card it will record on?
5. Or is it clever enough to know that card 1 is already recording and so it will use card 2?
6. What happens if they are two different cards and one card picks up more channels than the other?
7. If I set to record on a channel that is only picked up by one card then will it always pick the right tuner card?
8. What happens if that tuner card is busy recording another program which is common to both cards?
9. How good is the quality of the cards with portable aerials attached to them?

Sorry for all the questions but hope I can get someone to help.

Recording volume to low from GBPVR
Posted by: Gandalf - 2005-04-26, 07:27 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (5)

Can someone please help me to increase volume when recording with GBPVR. Volume when recording with WinTV2000 is ok but the recordings with GBPVR are way to low. Ive tried to search the forum for help but to no success

I noticed the channel switch was a LOT faster with the new version of GBPVR tx for the good work sub!
