  Weather Plug-in Update
Posted by: Jeff - 2005-04-13, 05:00 PM - Forum: Community Announcements - Replies (61)

Posted at the wiki site along with source.

* Rewrote the skinning code to enable everything to be moved. Everything is now based on composite images. Additionally, none of the font names are hard coded in the plug-in any more so you can add, remove, or change fonts as you wish.

* Moved the configuration settings to the PluginSettings area of the config.xml file so that they will be retained across upgrades of GBPVR.

* The plug-in will now copy and use the skin file from the blue skin directory if a skin can not be found in the current skin directory.

* Added the option to display weather information on the Video Archiver panel. If selected, the forecast for the current day and the next day will be displayed.

* Note that the plug-in now requires that CommonGBPVRUtiltiies.dll be in the main GBPVR directory.

  Delete issues: trouble letting go
Posted by: capone - 2005-04-13, 01:30 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (14)

My odd behavior: I use delete in My Videos, and even just deleting recordings, and sometimes it doesn't. It also puts a hold on the file, so you can't do so until restart.

I used to think it was only files on the network, and then just files in general. Now I realize it's just sporatic for all deletes (I just don't delete as many recorded TV files).

One shared behavior: it always seems to be w/ files I just finished watching, but waiting 1 or 60 sec doesn't seem to make a difference.

The only thing I noticed is that when it works, it takes a moment to delete, but it fails instantly.

I've seen nothing in the logs. Only thing that happens remotely close to it is storing the playback position.

I can live w/, but I wanted to report. It would be nice to fix, but not necessary.

  Recordings/playback not working
Posted by: asandbrook - 2005-04-13, 11:38 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (10)

I've got a Twinhan DVB-T and I'm running GB-PVR with the BDA drivers. I've finally got the card set up ok and I can view all the channels/change channel etc through live tv. However whenever I do a manual recording it says that it has recorded fine, during the recording the GB thingie goes green, and it is properly listed in the 'ready' section of the recordings. However when I go to watch the recording it plays approx the first 2 seconds (which tend to be very jumpy) of the video and then completely stops - has anybody any ideas what can be causing this. I have tried recording whilst using the cyberlink and the intervideo software decoders but both come up with identical results. Any ideas? Help much appreciated.

  WinTV PVR 150 stopped working!
Posted by: filipcza - 2005-04-13, 08:45 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (7)

Ok, yesterday I got GB-PVR working and was recording shows, all was well. I noticed one thing though..for some reason my internet connection(cable modem) stopped working after some time of using pvr 150. After I restarted machine internet would work again.

But..in the evening pvr stopped working..Now I can't get even wintv2000 to work. I tried clearing and then reinstalling drivers but nothing worked. The tuner in WinTV2000 finds channels, but when I try to watch live tv, it only shows black screen. When I try to watch live-tv in GB-PVR I get error message "Error playing back file". The live tv buffer filesize is 0. I have tried messing with overlay, but nothing.

I read somewhere that some running services could cause problems..which exactly? Could this be somekind of decoder problem? ffdshow?

What could have gone wrong? Give any pointers you can think of please..I was already so glad it worked.

  WebAdmin "Play Program"
Posted by: jrmosier - 2005-04-13, 03:40 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (1)

First of all, I really like the improved Web Admin.

I have stumbled across an issue with the Web Admin. My setup uses a server as my PVR system back end and a MVP front end. The Web Admin is reachable from the outside, but when I click on "Play Program' my player (WinAmp) receives the URL of

http://127.0.0.1:7647/gbpvr/public/download.aspx?rid=#

Even though the link was:

http://www.myserver.com/gbpvr/public/dow...spx?rid=91

Any idea how I can work around this?

My router is set to translate port 7647 to a port allowed by my ISP.

  Developing a skin. Need input.
Posted by: daphatty - 2005-04-13, 02:52 AM - Forum: Developers - Replies (4)

So I decided to take the plunge and try creating a skin of my own. I must say, I have a newfound respect for you skinners. This $hit is hard work!

The screen shot below represents my WIP skin. First, the resolution has been changed to 1280x960. I've mainly done this to see how GB-PVR would look with a larger image and to gauge what sort of challenges changing the background would bring about. Eventually, I plan on altering this image to fit my needs for a 16x9 interface. Additional changes include location, size, and task enabling.

Truth be told I must give all credit to Reboot. I'm basically altering one of his skins as my learning tool since I know nothing of XML (although I have programmed in C/C++). Reboot's skins are among my favorite so it seemed only logical to follow his work as a guide.

So, on to the issues. I have found one perplexing issue that is bothering me to no end. I cannot understand why the Clock and Next Recording panels have separate size and location settings in the clock/nextrecording.xml and skin.xml files. Changing the font size for those two panels has been a major PITA and I'm not satisfied with the results so far. I want the text quality to be clean and crisp, just like the title and button fonts. The stretched fonts just wont do. I'm using a size 24 Arial font for the button text, yet I am forced to use a stretched out size 12 font for the Clock and Next Recording panels. Using a larger font results in a cutoff, illegible mess. Anyone have any suggestions on this?

  Leadtek Winfast PVR2000 problems.
Posted by: tog - 2005-04-12, 11:53 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (2)

Hi all!

I'm just trying to set up GB-PVR to work with my brand new Leadtek Winfast PVR2000 PCI card, but with no luck yet.

Living in Athens, Greece, I cannot find any .xml file containing any channels, so I (probably) cannot set the EPG source correctly. I currently have created a new capture source, with the following configuration:

- Recording Source: Direct Recording Plugin. Settings: Capture Card Type: Leadtek Winfast PVR2000, Country: Germany (for PAL-BG that my country uses), Board Number: Capture Device #1, Source: Composite, External Tuner, Quality Profile Medium.

- EPG Source: XML TV Plugin. Settings: XML TV File: C:\Program Files\gbpvr\config.xml (this must be totally crap, but I do not know what to use here)

- Channel Changer: No Channel Changer required.

- Channels: Nothing.

Now, whenever I press the Live TV button of the program, I keep receiving the error message "Error: Object reference not set to an instance of an object"

The case for the TV signal reception is as follows: As I do not have an aerial antenna socket in the computer room, I receive the TV signal from the VCR located in the living room, via a wireless sender/receiver system with which I feed the composite in of the Leadtek card. The bundled program, no matter how limited it may seem, works ok - but I need the functionality (and probably the de-interlacing capabilities) of GB-PVR.

If I need to find a relevant .xml file, I do not know where to look.
If I need to create one, I do not know how to model it.

Could someone please help ?

Thanks in advance,

ToG.

Can a station be added manually?
Posted by: Peetem - 2005-04-12, 10:04 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (1)

OK,

ZAP2IT isn't transmitting the entire lineup for my cable system. They were, and now they aren't - they are missing several channels.

Is there anyway for me to at least add the channel to GBPVR so that a record time and channel can be selected?

Basically, I would like to be able to enter a channel # and record time and set to manual record. However, I cannot enter a channel manually, it seems to have to be in my downloaded channel listing.

Thanks all in advance!!

Peetem
