  GBPVR General Usage Qu's
Posted by: johnnyb - 2005-04-12, 12:14 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (4)

Just got GBPVR working on daughters PC with Hauppauge DVB 90002 card. Did first recording last night and have a few qu's:

(Note: I have looked at the http://gbpvr.bladerhq.com website, but can't find much usage info)

Is it possible to watch what is being recorded ? Tried to access Live TV whilst recording and kept getting an error message saying something like 'Cannot access channel'. (I guess it was trying to start Live TV with the last channel viewed on Live TV - which was different to that being recorded, so it didn't work).

Is it possible to start recording immediately? Only thing I can find is Man Rec which has start time which moves in 10 min slots. Bit of a shame if program has already started and I have to wait up to 10 mins before I can record.

Once program is recording, is it possible to manually stop it? Started recording wrong channel last night and tried to stop recording from Recordings->Pending on GBPVR which showed the top prog in list as 'Recording'. Trying to cancel recording from this item didn't work. Think I 'Restarted Recording Service' from the GBPVR tray icon which stopped the TV card from recording, but GBPVR still showed the prog as recording in Recordings->Pending, and wouldn't allow anything else to be recorded because it thought the TV card was busy. I had to wait until the program had finished before I could record something else.

Should GBPVR bring the PC out of Standby to record ? PC had Windows XP installed with BIOS power saving set to S1. I have now changed it to S3. As an experiment, set GBPVR to record a scheduled prog whilst PC was in Standby and PC didn't start up. I have read I may to reinstall XP with new BIOS setting. Help !!! Will GBPVR bring a PC out of Hibernate ?

That's it for now. Hope someone can help.

Posted by: jaz2di - 2005-04-12, 10:11 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (15)

Hi,
how can I switch to teletext viewing from Live TV? Is there a key, a click of some sort or am I missing something?

Thx!

  plugin idea: cycling panel
Posted by: dottore - 2005-04-12, 07:38 AM - Forum: Developers - Replies (8)

hi, gbpvrians (gee-bee-pee-vee-arians) ;-)

what about a cycling panel-plugin? a plugin, which displays several panels in one place... what i mean: a few seconds you can see weather information, after that the next recording, after that the actual playing track, then a rss-fead, diskspace......

this would save place on the main menu. sure, there is no weather panel and a diskspace panel is missing too, but it would be cool to have this view for no matter what panel.

what do you think?

p.s.: the weather panel could get the weather-information from the weather-plugin....

Playback jittery in GB-PVR, fine in anything else (using DScaler)
Posted by: j3flight - 2005-04-12, 05:46 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (6)

I'm using DScaler 5.006 as my filter of choice to playback mpeg2 files. It does an absolutely outstanding job of deinterlacing and when I play a video through Media Player Classic, it's crisp, clear and the movement is fluid even with interlaced film sources which seems to be difficult. ffdshow offers a lot of deinterlacers and I've tried them all, and IMHO, they don't stack up to DScaler.

Anyway, if I use GB-PVR to playback the same video (fullscreen, window, doesn't matter), sometimes it's great, sometimes it sucks. If i start the movie and let it run from the beginning, everything is perfect. If i skip forward once, it's usually still ok. But if i skip forward twice or three times or more, the picture will get VERY "jittery". I'm not sure how else to describe it, I don't think I'm dropping frames, but I get tearing and almost a "bouncing" effect during movement.

This SAME exact effect happens in timeshift mode tv (obviously, same filter).

Also, if i turn on "Deinterlace Filter" for Live Preview, i get the same issue. I believe the deinterlace filter is just a portion of DScaler correct?? If so, I guess it would make sense that the symptoms are the same.

Any suggestions?
I've got brand new ATI drivers (downloaded today actually). Turned off antivirus, moved swapfile, defragged, killed all other apps, VMR9/7/Overlay, nothing helps.

Again, this works GREAT in Media Player Classic.

Thanks,

Jason

sub im getting this error

its obvious why, but theres not much i can do about it from my side (without effecting the text) could you add a try{}catch around the translations when you call them for composite images? this would remove the problem.

cheers

  Mpeg-1/vcd
Posted by: jerry430 - 2005-04-12, 02:20 AM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (3)

Most of the TV programs that I record I only watch once and delete. Thirty minutes of video captured with GBVR on medium quality uses about 900mb on my hard drive. Thirty minutes with Wintv2000 at VCD compatible file (MPEG-1) uses only about 300mb. I have a Hauppauge PVR-150.

Is there any way to capture in MPEG-1/VCD through GBPVR? Other than this one area, GBPVR is way better than Wintv, IMHO.

How much can a plug-in do?
Posted by: wolve999 - 2005-04-11, 11:04 PM - Forum: Developers - Replies (3)

I’m one of those people who bought the ATI 550 thinking there would be MMC support but now we know there is not.

After looking at many other players I came across gb pvr, and like it a lot but, there is no sound for the 550 yet.

I know Sub can’t work on it unless he gets a working unit (sound doesn’t work for him in any application)

I’m a Computer Science Student, and thought this would be a great project to working on. But I really don’t know where to start (of even if I can, since gb pvr’s source is not available).

It’s not possible to make a plug-in that would support sound is it?

Anything that could help is appreciated.

audio sync issue only in live preview mode
Posted by: Torque - 2005-04-11, 10:28 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (3)

Okay, I've read 2 pages of search results about audio sync issues and haven't found a solution to my wierd problem.

While watching live TV in the preview mode (not timeshift mode), the audio and video will perfectly be in sync for about 35-40 minutes... then I start noticing that the audio is lagging behind. If I hit the back button to go to the main menu, then go back into live preview mode, the audio is back in sync. If I just keep watching the audio lag will get worse and worse. For example, I left the PVR in live preview mode for a few hours. When I came back, the audio was almost 5 seconds behind the video.

Now I was thinking this might be a decoder option or something (I haven't done anything special like install FFDSHOW or whatever... my install is vanilla. When in timeshift mode or watching my recordings, the audio is in perfect sync with the video. This only happens when in live preview mode.

I'm using the WinDVD decoder because I couldn't get the decoder to install that came with my pvr150mce or the one on the hauppauge website (I think that one is called intervideo)... the install would start, then just disappear.

If this was a decoder issue, I'd think I'd have this issue with everything, recordings and timeshift mode, etc.

Any ideas?

Thanks.

  Sound working, then quit...
Posted by: AZ_Ron - 2005-04-11, 08:52 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (5)

Thought I was all set when I got the EPG problem figured out... I set up several recording sessions, then played around with watching some live TV...
I put on 'The Poseidon Adventure', worked fine, sounds was fine...
hit 'esc' to get back to the guide... went to another program, and I had picture but no sound... now no matter where I turn to, I have no audio....
I here the dinks and such when I click on webpages and such, so I know the sound card and my Receiver work fine... is there a way to mute the sound in GB?? I'm thinking I may have errantly hit a key or something... otherwise I'm starting to think the Audio input on the Hauppage 250 card died...

Any ideas???

Getting closer... Wink

  Display/Playback in native resolution ?
Posted by: G_raas - 2005-04-11, 08:28 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (10)

Help! I can't figure it out ... after hours of playing around. How do I get playback of movies so that it ot doesn't stretch to fit fullscreen ?
All the characters look stretched & thin.
If I play back using media player/VLC/divx or any other video playback software I have no problems. When I play any movie file back in GB-PVR it gets stretched to fullscreen.

Any Ideas ?!
