  wiki and a stupid user
Posted by: reboot - 2005-04-11, 08:20 PM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (3)

OK, I'll admit it. I'm dense when it comes to doing anything on the wiki.
Could someone "hold my hand" on this?
I've reread all the documentation, and I still can't figure out some of the basics.
All I need, is a simple step by step.
Then click here, type this, etc.
All I'm trying to do, is get a couple of my skins up there, with the link in the sidebar, the picture preview, and the download link.

  MVP locks up
Posted by: slogger - 2005-04-11, 07:53 PM - Forum: MVP & NMT - Replies (1)

Hi MVP Guys,

Impressive forum. I have already learnt probably more than I ever wanted to know about my MVP from browsing your archives.

Unfortunately I now need someone out there to convince me that my MVP is not a complete waste of space. I bought the MVP a couple of days ago with the primary aim of playing DivX files on my TV. Frustratingly the MVP locks up after about 30mins of playing and the will not respond to the Remote. The only solution is to power off the MVP, restart the server software, and the power on again. Not good.

Firstly I should say that I have NOT installed GBPVR and am using the Hauppauge server software.

I have tried the 2.2 and 2.4beta softare from Hauppage, each with the same result.

I have a wired network consisting of-
PC Pentium4 2.6GHz, 512mb
Netgear DG834G router
Hauppauge MediaMVP (rev D3)

The PC seems to be coping with the transcoding load, usually hovering around the 70% cpu (so it's not maxed out). The network is operating at only 4% of its 100mBit capacity. So I can only guess that the software must be rather ropey or the MVP hardware itself is flakey.

Has anyone else experienced the same problem. If so, do you have a solution you can share? Could GBPVR possibly improve my chances with DivX files?

At the moment I am feeling rather disappointed by this purchase . But maybe someone can cheer me up with a solution Smile

I have also contacted Hauppauge Support with the issue, and I will let you know if I get any joy from there. Otherwise a return trip to the shops for a refund is on the cards.

Thanks for any help or advice,

James

Can't play mp3's without pops between tracks
Posted by: Jackdaw - 2005-04-11, 07:41 PM - Forum: MVP & NMT - Replies (2)

I've tried all the plugins but whichever I use to play mp3's on the mvp I always get a pop or burst of noise between tracks. This occurs whether I am playing a playlist or have selected "Play all".
I am on a wired network and have a fast server. I am using the latest release. I have had this problem with every release.
There are no faults on the mp3's or the m3u lists. They play fine on anything else. There are no faults while the tracks are playing - it is just the gap between tracks.
How many others have this problem? Can anyone suggest a fix for it?
Would it be possible to devise an upnp plugin so that I could use Twonkyvision for music?

  Config crashes when exiting
Posted by: richarta - 2005-04-11, 07:37 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (1)

Every time I exit Config I get an 'unhandled exception' error reported back. Here is the text I can copy from it:

What does it mean? It is happening in all versions, and has done for some time.

I am running Windows XP, SP2.

I suspect it is XP, not GBPVR.

Thanks

Tim

To enable just in time (JIT) debugging, the config file for this
application or machine (machine.config) must have the
jitDebugging value set in the system.windows.forms section.
The application must also be compiled with debugging

<configuration>

When JIT debugging is enabled, any unhandled exception
will be sent to the JIT debugger registered on the machine

  EPG screen black....???
Posted by: AZ_Ron - 2005-04-11, 06:51 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (4)

Hey guys... I setup my HT using GBPVR and Cox digital cable and Zap2It... EPG worked fine, recorded several shows, no issues at all... We switch to DirecTv, and I went to Zaps page and changed my settings from Cox to DTV, then fired up GBPVR and went to update EPG...nothing changed...still had the cox channels... so I deleted that setup, then setup a new capture source, using Zap2it, saved it, then went in and updated it... all I get is a black screen where the channels should be... I've tried several times, but can't seem to figure this one out.... any one have any suggestions??
BTW, I'm using Version 0.21.4

Should I upgrade GB?

Thanks!!!

I'm still searching the forums to see if anyone else has had this issue...

Problems with Record In TV Guide
Posted by: m0rt - 2005-04-11, 05:53 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (5)

Hi any help/ideas on the following would be great.

In TV Guide, when I select a program I want to record the popup menu appears and gives me 3 options "Exit", "Quick Record", and "Record". I can exit and 'quick record' fine but whenever I select "Record" I get the error 'ERROR: Object not set to an instance of an object'.

Any ideas?? (am running the latest version GBPVR09111.msi... but I had the same problem with GBPVR09108.msi too)
Thanks

(BTW... great program Sub)

PS: If you need a log file, let me know which one (there are soooo many! Smile ) and I'll post it here.

Pinnacle PCTV 300i Stereo DVB-T & analogue setup
Posted by: SWK - 2005-04-11, 03:28 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (5)

Hello

I've just installed the above internal PCI card alongside a WinTV PVR-250. I managed to get the DVB receiver working, but I not the analogue. The only Pinnacle cards under the Direct Recording Plugin are Pinnacle PCTV Deluxe (PAL or NTSC), which are external USB devices.

Any suggestions ?

Thanks, Sean
