  MyPictures, adding @Name to filenames
Posted by: pauly666 - 2005-03-30, 04:08 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (1)

I just noticed today that the new version of MyPictures is adding "@Name" to the folder and filenames of everything.

Exiting Timeshift Causes GB-PVR to lock-up
Posted by: CaptainVideo - 2005-03-30, 03:45 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (15)

I've mentioned this elsewhere, but think this deserves its own thread. I've seen others with this problem.

If I'm watching a show currently being recorded, I can't exit out of it using my 45-button Hauppauge remote. "Escape" on the keyboard appears to work, although the other night even THAT froze GB-PVR.

I can't get GB-PVR to directly access the remote (another thread indicates this is an incompatibility between Hauppauge's drivers and GB-PVR), so that's not an option.

Any hints on what I should be looking for to solve this problem?

I'm considering
-installing an older version of the IRRemote software
-Setting up macros with AutoHotKey or
-using a wireless keyboard

  Conflicts are resolved, but return
Posted by: ksfhhllp - 2005-03-30, 02:17 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (11)

I'm having an odd problem... I have several shows set to record (most set to record season or season/timeslot). As expected, there are several conflicts that arise.

This is what happens:
I go through and resolve the conflicts.
The next morning, the conflicts have all returned.

I presume this happens during the night when the EPG updates (I think I have it set to update at 6 AM).

Has anyone else experienced this problem? This has happened ever since I installed a few nights ago. For now, I am resolving conflicts on a day-to-day basis (e.g., resolving all my conflicts for today only).

  MVP and AVI
Posted by: mhj.vermeer - 2005-03-30, 12:36 PM - Forum: MVP & NMT - Replies (17)

I know that there are a view topics about this, but i still have a few questions. I have a few avi files and like to play the over my MVP.

I installed xrecord but i can not tell the plugin where my avi video's are. If i select video in the xrecord menu it tells me, you have no videos.

I found out that i have to install VLC, what is that?

Thanks

  Upgrade query
Posted by: simon - 2005-03-30, 09:32 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (1)

I've just upgraded from 0.90.10 to 0.91.8, overwriting the 0.90.10 install.
From the change log of 0.91, I knew I needed to rescan for channels as I'm a BDA user. As expected, the install seems to have completely overwritten my database with a blank one, so I've lost all my recordings and the pointers to already recorded shows on my HDD. With the BDA channel scan changes, will I screw everything up if I copy my old 0.90.10 database into the new install to restore this?

Alternatively, is there a way I can import my existing recordings and season records settings into the new database without screwing it up? They are the only bits I want to restore.

Thanks,

Simon

  playlists stop on MVP
Posted by: tkgafs - 2005-03-30, 08:38 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (11)

I know this has been mentioned several times before, but does anybody have a solution.

If you have a music playlist running on the MVP and using the menus go and check weather forecast or schedule a recording or something similar.

The playlist stops playing at the end of the current track.

Its the one bug still in the system I find really annoying

Sub is there anything that can be done ?

  Hibernate questions
Posted by: PvrCrazy - 2005-03-30, 07:34 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (10)

Hi, I'm pretty sure this subject has been discussed here before, but I just couldn't find a step-by-step through on how to set-up a hibernate-wakeup process with gb-pvr. I've tried/enabled most settings in my bios and lan card but none worked. Can someone please step me through the process on how I could hibernate my computer and have a scheduled recording wake it up. I have already set my computer to hibernate in 30 mins(no activity). I have also enabled some settings in the "power management setup" in my bios. Here are the following:
POWERMANAGEMENT/APM = ACPI
GREEN MONITOR POWER STATE = SUSPEND(DEFAULT), STANDBY, OFF
HARD DISK POWER DOWN STATE = SUSPEND(DEFAULT), STANDBY, DISABLED
VIDEO POWER DOWN MODE= SUSPEND(DEFAULT), STANDBY, DISABLED
STANDBY TIMEOUT (MINUTE) = DISABLED
SUSPEND TIMEOUT (MINUTE) = DISABLED
FDC/LPT/COM PORTS = MONITOR(DEFAULT), IGNORE
RING ON POWER ON = DISABLED
LAN CARD POWER ON = EENABLED
KEYBOARD POWER ON = DISABLED
RTC ALARM POWER ON DISABLED

I have also enabled some settings in my network card(SMC 1255TX-PF. all wake up settings). I tried scheduling some shows and force my computer(not by start->logoff->hibernate) to hibernate but it won't wake up.

This feature will definitely be useful since I'm going away for a week. I don't really want to leave my computer on for a week so I won't miss all my recordings. I hope you guys can help me. Thanks

System:
Pentium iii 750, 250mb ram, pvr250 w/ new remote, xp home sp1

Adding a Channel to the cable line-up
Posted by: jags_e - 2005-03-30, 07:21 AM - Forum: Hardware - No Replies

Hi,

I have comcast cable service and only one channel subscribed in DISH network.

Is there a cheaper way to combine(modulate) the sole DISH channel into my cable so that I can use GB PVR to pause/record all channels thru the cable input?

I read something about using the VCR, can someone help?

Thanks,
Jagan.

  Wishlist: Better skin management
Posted by: daphatty - 2005-03-30, 04:49 AM - Forum: Wishlist - Replies (14)

I know this might be difficult to control but I find the biggest annoyance to be skins that don't support my favorite plugins (and vice versa). Would it be possible to create some sort of button template that is universal across all plugins regardless of their functionality?

Example: Reboot's excellent BlueBoot2 and Mountain Lake + My Pictures. No worky worky.

I've had the same issue with other skins as well (some of the TV Guide skins come to mind) but it seems to me that skinning should be a little less cumbersome for both the skinner and end user.

Or do I need to lay off the crack? Smile

Replay freezes, echos, and best audio rates
Posted by: Tulex - 2005-03-30, 04:40 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (7)

Playback of a recording works great first time, but if I go back later and try to watch it again, it freezes at the first frames. This is for every recording I have done. I have to ctrl/alt/del to get out, yet it says it's running, and exits cleanly at that point with end process.

Also, recorded 2 shows back to back, and the second one seems to have an echo. Any ideas?

What dictates where the audio rates should be set at. I see that it defaults to 48 and 224. Is there any advantage to playing with these? Also, can the default quality be changed from medium? I know I can change the settings for medium and just use that as my default highest, but would rather have it labled properly.

Last, pushing the skip button a second time before it has finished the first skip locks it up. Others seeing this. Hauppauge 45 remote.

A lot in one post, so thanks for any replies.
