  DVB-T Users a quick question?
Posted by: herbs - 2005-03-15, 09:15 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (11)

Hi,

Is your card stable in gbpvr? I have the nova-t 909 it seems to hog the recording service and doesn't release it properly. I have to restart it 6 out of 10 times. Also switching channels can also cause it to dump back to the epg screen or main menu, this doesn't happen 100% but more often than not . This doesn't release the card as in the recording service you can see it states the card is still in use.
It doesn't matter what mpeg codec I use the problem still occurs. I'm beginning to think its a problem with the mpgmux.ax and gbpvr. I know dvb support has only just began so it could have a few problems that need ironing out.

Recording wrong channel & WEB refresh issue
Posted by: tnf - 2005-03-15, 08:55 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (23)

I have just started to use GB-PVR with a new Plextor TV402U device, and I really like the SW.

Have found some issues that I am not able to sort out:

1- I am importing the channels with O2grabber and I believe it worked well for a few days.  But, all of a sudden GBPVR has started to record wrong channels.  I am using the WEB interface to program the recoring and the channels is correctly named here, live TV also shows the correct channel and the recording is named correctly.  I have tried to use the EMPTY EPG function and reread the channels, but it makes no difference.  Is there some issue with a database that I might have to empty  to start from scratch ?

2 - When I am scheduling recodings, the first schedule normally goes Ok, but after that I get an error message from the WEB browser that it has to resubmit the form.  This comes after I have clicke RECORD in the popup window and the main window is refreshing to show the red marker.  If I reply IGNORE it will show me the EPG again, but with the recording not marked, If I click RETRY it skips to next page.  In any case the recording is scheduled OK, but it is annoying.

3 - When I go to scheduled recording and cancel a recording the EPG is blank afterwards, no channels.  Refresh page do not help, but new login in the WEB interface brings it all back again.

Finally a note to anyone who consider the Plextor TV402U USB device; it is a great piece of hardware, but I have some weird performance issues.  On one of my systems (P4 3ghz) I have only 10% CPU usage when recording.  On another system (P4 2ghz) I have 100% CPU usage and the system basically freezes during recoring/live playback.  Then the strange one; on a P3 1 GHZ system I have 40-50% CPU usage when performing the excact same operations.  The P4 systems has onboard USB2, the P3 has a USB2 PCI card.  The difference must be related to the USB2 implementation on the computer.  If anyone has more info on the USB performance issue, I would really appreciate it.  It looks like the USB communication on some systems takes a lot of CPU power, but I have not been able to find any good info if there is a USB2 PCI board out there that gives low CPU usage.

Which files to backup before reinstall ..?
Posted by: Splyf - 2005-03-15, 08:48 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (1)

I like to make a cleanup on my GB-PVR installation, but I also like to keep my recordings and schedules. I would like to delete all files,
and reinstall GB-PVR. Do I only need to keep the gbpvr.mdb file ?

  Shutdown plugin

I would like to manually set my machine to standby-mode. Probably the shutdown plugin is the most suitable place for this functionality.

Green screen playing back recorded video
Posted by: LoneWolf - 2005-03-15, 08:33 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (3)

Okay,

I must be still missing something from my setup. I've now got recording working (using a Hauppauge PVR150) but when I play back any recorded video, I get audio, but the video is just a solid green screen, no picture. My HTPC box has an onboard Matrox MGA200 vidcard. I've tried using VMR9 and VMR7 for playback and it doesn't change. If I set to Overlay, I get a black screen and no sound. Also, if I change the MPEG2 decoder from System Default to the only other one available (InterVideo NonCSS) I'll get the first frame of video, with no audio, and no video after that (if I resize the window at any time at that point, it goes black). Anyone have an idea of what I could be doing wrong and how to fix it?

Note: I just found out if I switch to my Sigma Designs XCard for hardware MPEG2 playback, video/audio playback works, but since I'm playing back through VGA output currently, the frontend screens aren't sized correctly, and the moment I exit GBPVR (something I've mentioned in another thread) it terminates with a black screen and doesn't dump me to the Windows desktop like it should. I figured I'd post this as additional troubleshooting info to see if it would help shed any light.

  wishlist for plugins
Posted by: reven - 2005-03-15, 08:09 AM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (27)

i was just wondering what plugins people want to see.

my wishlist
- voice over ip chat
- video over ip chat
- irc chat
- some kind of streaming video (gbpvr can currently play a streaming file, but it needs to download the entire file first).
- settings (in progress)
- auto update (in progress, probably going to be combined into settings).
- P2P (talks going on).
- a good email plugin (with basic send/recieve, doesnt need to render html, just display plain text, with onscreen keyboard).

  PIP/POP liveTV for multiple tuners
Posted by: povarotti - 2005-03-15, 08:09 AM - Forum: Wishlist - Replies (19)

i think it'd be really cool if you could watch liveTV with picture-in-picture (PIP) or picture-out-of-picture (POP). i dont have multiple tuner cards in my box now, so, i suppose this already exists, but i'm pretty sure it doesn't. it'd be really cool, i think. probably down the road, if/when it happens...just throwing it out there.

pov.

  Any plugins developed in SharpDevelop?
Posted by: sjwaste - 2005-03-15, 04:51 AM - Forum: Developers - Replies (11)

As the topic says, has anyone used #Develop to write their plugin? I'd really like to see the project if possible. Either C# or VB.NET would be great.

I'm a competent programmer, but I've yet to write a GB-PVR plugin. I'm getting started and doing it in #Develop, and I'd just like to see if I'm going in the right direction.

Thanks!

  MediaMVP Issues
Posted by: ZaDDaZ - 2005-03-15, 04:07 AM - Forum: MVP & NMT - Replies (11)

I recently attempted converting from using SageTV to GBPVR and I have to say that I am quite impressed with GBPVR, especially its MediaMVP functionality.  I have some issues though and I was wondering if anyone might be able to shed some light on them.

First, do these things just not generate good vertical sync signals when displaying menus?  Even running the MediaMVP service from Hauppauge, they didn't do all that great.  It seems worse in GBPVR, but maybe thats just because the screens look a thousand times better.  I don't have any display problems with recorded video.

Second, the remote function does not seem to work correctly.  Specifically, the replay and skip functions.  Skip seems to take me halfway into the current video and replay, goes further forward.  Is there some file I need to modify to indicate the type of remote I have?  I have the old remote as I've seen some information about a newer remote out there.

If I can get these issues resolved, I'd buy MVP's for every TV in my house!

  CDKScheduler/XRecord Feature Request:  AirDate!
Posted by: gwyden - 2005-03-15, 03:03 AM - Forum: Developers - Replies (16)

Instead of saying only record shows I have not already recorded say something like "Record new shows only" this would then base off the AirDate from Zap (or where ever) and if the scheduled recording date is equal to the AirDate then it is a new program and record the sucker! =) otherwise skip this recording.
