Madness or missing something? Live Tv files
Posted by: capone - 2005-01-22, 04:32 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (7)

I am new to GB-PVR, and the more I learn how to use it, the more I like it.

I was doing my first prolonged viewing of live tv this morning. After a while it bombed out (dind't grab the error). I looked in the live tv folder, and I found every channel/instance of watching still had a file. The one I was watching was up to 3Gb.

Since no one else is complaining about not having any disk space at all from this, I think I must have the problem. Restarts, closes, shutdowns, etc, don't seem to purge them.

On a side note, I had an debug error about the archiever dll last night, and thinking it was just part of Jeff's plugin, I took it out of plugin. Was I wrong, and does that clean up these messes?

  Massive (and unusuable) recording files
Posted by: bgowland - 2005-01-22, 04:06 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (4)

I saw a post some time back on this and can't find it now.

To cut a long story short - my new PVR 500 doesn't like AGP graphics cards (PC refuses to boot). I managed to find an old (5+ years) PCI card and got the machine up and running and the 500 installed. A test record of a 30 minute programme, however, produced a 21.9 GB MPEG which was of course unwatchable.

I can't remember what the reason for that was in the other post I saw where someone was seeing the same thing. Can someone remind me please?

Cheers,
Brian

  New user help
Posted by: maunded - 2005-01-22, 09:50 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (5)

Hi,
I have just recently downloaded and insalled gb-pvr. Im still waiting on my TV card so not using one just yet. I have been having a couple of problems playing videos I have stored on my HDD.
1. When playing a movie, there is a thin white line along the right side and bottom of the screen when in full screen mode.
2. When playing a movie that is widescreen, gb-pvr stretches the movie to regular TV size (I dont have a widescreen TV)...this distorts everything. If I play the movie using the divx player it stays the correct format.

Has anyone had the same problems Im experiencing?

Thanks
Dean.

  Web Access
Posted by: sas - 2005-01-22, 08:46 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (1)

I am using the correct port/url (http://localhost:7647/gbpvr/login.aspx)
and have tried it with localhost, 127.0.0.1, local lan ip, my machine name, etc. but to no avail my browser just hangs and says, waiting for response (on the lower toolbar), while trying to access any of the .aspx files (login, index...).

I have tried using both IE and Firefox both had the same results. I have reinstalled .net Framework and gbpvr and even tried older versions of gbpvr. No success..

I know it sees the http server because when I don't put the login.aspx in the url I get a 404 msg from cassini.

Can anyone shed some light on this problem.
Thanks,
S

  Playing files with extension .M2V(Mpeg-2)
Posted by: raptoger - 2005-01-22, 06:35 AM - Forum: MVP & NMT - Replies (2)

I read in the MediaMVP documentation that it plays Mpeg-2 files. I ripped a dvd and then the VOB files. Now I have a bunch of files with extension .M2V(mpeg-2) but MediaMVP does not see them as video files. Is this correct or is there something I dont understand?
I will appreciate your clarification on this

  Can’t play any recordings anymore
Posted by: pbones - 2005-01-22, 03:59 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (5)

Don’t know what happened, but I sat down to play some recorded shows and nothing plays. The screen goes to black and nothing else. You can stop and resume but nothing shows up on the TV regardless of the recording. I rebooted the server and it didn’t help. Out of the blue, what could this be?

  EPG Update not happening
Posted by: dazz - 2005-01-22, 03:49 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (1)

I don't believe I've ever had EPG automatically update. I have to go in and hit the "Update EPG" button in config. Does it work for most people? Anyone else not have it working? Any suggestions GREATLY appreciated. Thanks.

  Where Do I Start
Posted by: CornStopper - 2005-01-21, 11:46 PM - Forum: Developers - Replies (3)

Just waiting on my PV250 card and once I have my GBPVR setup, I am gunna attempt to write some plugins.

I program in VB6 for a living. I believe that GBPVR is written in .Net.

So where can I get .net from?

Would the transition from vb6 to .net be difficult?

I have programmed in c++(not visual c)

  Sleep mode in live TV
Posted by: jan - 2005-01-21, 08:05 PM - Forum: MVP & NMT - Replies (2)

My PC is setup to go into sleep mode after 1 hour. When using the MVP for live TV the PC does not see that as activity, and goes into sleep mode after 1 hour. Does anyone have the same problem and is there a solution ?

  mvp remote & live tv

Are you supposed to be able to type in the station to go to (ie. 57) or do you have to use channel up/down? Perhaps I'm doing something wrong, but if I enter 5 + 7 + OK it doesn't go to channel 57.
