  Picture ability
Posted by: Bajtra - 2005-01-21, 05:12 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - No Replies

I'm running gbpvr on a celeron 2.4 with 512mb ram through a pvr150 and an FX5200.

I've noticed that as I increase my record settings bitrate my picture quality gets better but I start to get more artifacting. Is this a limitation of my cpu or video card?

Also,
What's the difference between variable bitrate and fixed bitrate and how does it affect the picture? Say I change a variable bitrate of 5500 to 9000 to be just 7500 or so?

Thanks

  Developing on a Non-PVR PC
Posted by: ejk - 2005-01-21, 02:50 PM - Forum: Developers - Replies (2)

I've been working on updating the Blue Task skin by doing development work on my Laptop and then transferring the skin files over to my PVR.

The question is, I can't figure out how to get TV listings to be imported when I don't have a tuner card. I tried just setting up a dummy capture source to be able to connect to the zap2it listings, but it won't let me without an actual card.

Is there an easy way to import some TV guide data (and possibly completed recordings data) for testing purposes?

  EPG not updating
Posted by: ro76 - 2005-01-21, 02:25 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (3)

Hi,

I'm using GBPVR with an MVP, and find it fantastic!

I have one minor issue. The EPG will not update spontaneously. I have the updateepg.bat file properly configured, and this will update the xml data properly. The problem is that the scheduled EPG update in GBPVR config does not happen. If I manually update the EPG in the config app then it works, but it will not happen at the scheduled time.

The PC is always on, and is not setup for hibernation etc.

This seems to be a problem with GBPVR scheduling, rather than any xmltv problem.

Do I need the actual GBPVR app running on the computer at the time of the update? I currently have the recording service tray icon and the MVP server running.

Is it possible to schedule this update with Windows task scheduler?

Ronan

  PVR-500MCE
Posted by: pcostanza - 2005-01-21, 01:49 PM - Forum: Hardware - Replies (3)

I've been happy with my PVR-350 but am interested in the PVR-500MCE and would like opinions on it.
Questions: it's less expensive and I know it does not come with a remote but will the 350 remote work with it?
Also, you need 2 cables going in (I assume) to use 2 tuners....what's the best type of splitter to use to avoid signal loss?
Finally, any problems with the 500MCE and GB-PVR?
Thanks in advance.

  Epia V + PVR350 = Bluescreen
Posted by: Senior47 - 2005-01-21, 10:16 AM - Forum: Hardware - No Replies

I was about to try GB-PVR on an EpiaV board (less noise), and installed WinXP SP2 and the WinTV PVR350 software and drivers - everything seems ok.
Starting WinTV2000 and scanning for channels went ok, but at the end of the scanning process Windows gives me a nice blue screen - no indication on what went wrong - just a standard message.
I've tried different settings in bios, updated drivers and so on, same result.
Anyone got this working? If so, can you please give me your details?

  Recording Simultaenously
Posted by: ydekmekji - 2005-01-21, 07:45 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (3)

So, I've searched everywhere on this site and i still don't have an answer.

I have PVR-USB2 and PVR-150 installed
I have both set to Capture Source #1

It seems that I am having a difficult time recording two shows at the same time. If i set two shows to record simultaenously--only one will record. If I set to record one, and tehn watch live tv and record the Live TV, then something seems to cut off the other one to like 20-40 seconds.

i'm stumped!

I've tried playing around with different configuration for capture sources--no luck

  Cannot Change Channels
Posted by: maxrebo - 2005-01-21, 05:45 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (8)

I have a Plextor ConvertX TV402U tuner which seems to work okay with other programs (except for GotTV, which is another issue) but with GB-PVR, I cannot change channels while watching Live TV. I can change channels if I set something to record or when I first start the application and go and select a channel from the guide it works, but after that when I hit up, down or enter a channel number in (and hit enter), it will not change. The only way to change channels is to exit out of the program and go back in.

WinDVR (ui sucks), SageTV (slow), and BeyondTV (slow) all seem to work fine.

Anyone know how to fix this? Thanks!
