MediaMVP - GBPVR Pass through to Hauppauge SW
Posted by: welshblob - 2004-06-13, 02:07 PM - Forum: Wishlist - No Replies

Hi,
Was just thinking with the new MediaMVP Hauppauge beta software supporting Divx transcoding it would be good to be able to have both GBPVR and Hauppauge services running. GBPVR could act as the master passing selected commands through to the Hauppauge service. Then we could get
1) The linux image passed through to a cold MediaMVP start rather than fiddling with the services. Although not a huge hassle at the moment this is really just a nice to have.
2) The use the the Divx transcoding feature which is very handy.
To do this I expect you'd have to get the Hauppauge service to change the default port its using. I've had a poke around and can't see anything that would allow you to change this. Or maybe we could try and get it to bind to another IP address such as one of the loopback addresses. Once again I haven't seen anything that would allow this either :-(.
I don't know how the internals of the MVP work so I might be way off base with this one but any thoughts and comments would be appreciated.
Regards
Rob

MediaMVP for £50 in the UK
Posted by: welshblob - 2004-06-13, 01:54 PM - Forum: MVP & NMT - Replies (5)

Following up from PC World's bargain price of £50 e-buyer are now doing the same. Plus you also get to claim a free DVD of the new LOTR film too from Hauppauge.
Don't know if this is an effort to clear stocks before a new model comes out?
Sub - please remove if u think this is inappropriate.
Cheers

  Problem playing MP3's
Posted by: finster - 2004-06-13, 07:40 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (18)

Hi,

I am having problems playing MP3's - there is just no sound. I have Live TV working, and recordings work, along with DivXs.

This problem seems to happen intermittently - sometimes I can get them playing, then after I have switched between a few, they stop playing.

I am using an AMD XP2400 along with a PVR-250 - all sound is channelled through my sound card. This is on Win2k with GB-PVR 0.17.

I have looked in the logs, but can't see any error messages. Anybody got any ideas?

Cheers.

Sound and Video out of Sync
Posted by: finster - 2004-06-12, 08:29 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (2)

Hi all,

I have GB-PVR set up, and it is running really well - I can schedule recordings both via the front-end and via the web interface.

However, when I come to watch the recordings, after a few minutes the sound and video get out of sync. It starts off fine, but then gradually gets worse until the sound gets extremely "choppy".

I get this watching through the GB-PVR front-end, and also with Media Player 9.

When watching with WMP9, when things start to get bad, if I click on the bar at the bottom to jump to a specific point in a recording (even it is approximately the same point), things are fine, but then gradually start getting out of sync again.

I have searched the internet, but can't seem to find any relevant info.

My current set-up is: -

Shuttle SK41G (VIA KM266 chipset)
PVR250
XP2400
512MB
Win 2k

Anybody got any ideas?

Thanks.

Rcording Service Selecting the Correct Channel
Posted by: jwells - 2004-06-11, 11:44 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (2)

I have two sources set up on the 350. One is the internal tuner, the other is the s video in on the 350. I have channels 1-100 set up on the internal tuner a the everything above 100 is set to use the s video. When I change channels with the remote it works properly, ie. if I type channel 241 it goes to s video like it should. If I schedle a recording through the guide on channel 241 it records the wrong channel. It appears it does not change channels. What should I look for?

Recordingservice prevents other programs to start
Posted by: MaBo - 2004-06-11, 11:04 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (8)

Hi Sub,

Yesterday I wanted to install the software for my new touchscreen. However, the installer didn't start even after several retries with different versions. As I was also fiddling around with my vtplus scripts I stopped the recordingservice to let vtplus run. Then suddenly the touchscreen installer started several times! So apparantly the v017 recordingservice does more than only prevent vtplus from starting.

I really hope you can look into this and solve it.

Greetz,
MaBo

  Touchscreen support
Posted by: MaBo - 2004-06-11, 10:58 AM - Forum: Wishlist - No Replies

Hi,
Yesterday I finally received my touchscreen that I like to use to control my HTPC. When playing around with it, I noticed that a touchscreen is handy with GBPVR. But there are a couple of points where some minor modifications would make it a lot better in combination with a touchscreen:
- add an arrow button on the EPG screen to move further and backwards in time and up and down.
- ensure there are back and main-menu buttons on all sub-menus. For the standard gbpvr modules this is well done, many plugins lack these buttons.
- in particular for the jukebox plugin: a button to move up one folder, and a stop button. Now I have to start another piece of music from within the music library and stop that one to stop the jukobox (or use the remote).
- pictures plugin: tap the screen to advance one picture
- volume up and down controls on the main menu(?)
- when playing a movie (I use the tv-out of the pvr350) it would be convenient to leave buttons to start/stop/pause/FFW/FBW/Vol-up/Vol-dwn on the monitor output (now only black with a message in it).
- queue button on the menu of the music library. Then I can select a song and press queue to have it appended.

I assume more ideas will pop up when playing with it further.

Greetz,
MaBo

  350 vs 250??
Posted by: mafro - 2004-06-11, 08:59 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (5)

Hey,

Im going to buy some of this hardware and setup a system for my house.

My main question is whats the difference between the PVR350 and the PVR250? Is the 350 really worth the price difference?

Ill also probably get a MediaMVP for the scart interface etc.. Will this thing decode divx streams? It says explicitly that it only does MPEG but if you use the GBPVR software does that really matter??

Thanks for your help
mafro

Service GB-PVR Recording Service not found
Posted by: runlevel - 2004-06-11, 08:34 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (2)

Hi.

I have a PVR 350 and trying to install GB-PVR 0.17 fresh.
It does not seem to install the recording service (not in my services list).
How can I install it manually? So I can fix this problem.
Thanks for all the help and this what looks like to be a great program.

  System Requirements for MVP Server
Posted by: finster - 2004-06-10, 10:41 PM - Forum: MVP & NMT - Replies (11)

Hi all,

Just a quick question - what kind of system requirements are we looking at for a GB PVR MediaMVP Server???

I have an old Celeron-850 lying around with 384mb RAM.

I was hoping to keep this in the garage and control GB-PVR from a Hauppauge MediaMVP situated in my lounge.

Does anybody know if this is acceptable?

Also, looking forward, is it possible yet to connect multiple MVP's to the same host?

Cheers.
