  Manual Recordings
Posted by: ibweasel - 2004-05-03, 09:14 PM - Forum: Wishlist - Replies (3)

I need some extra functionality out of the manual recording option:

1) a way to enter the channel number directly. Scrolling from 200 to 700 is very painfull.

2) if it is possible, allow a channel that is not in the guide to be recorded. XML TV does not have listings for PPV, so I can never record them [Image: sad.gif]

That would make the manual recording feature extremely useful for me.

Thanks Sub, excellent work so far!

Weather plugin: Error message when selected
Posted by: tickly - 2004-05-03, 09:01 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (14)

Hi all,
Just started using the program. I downloaded the weather plugin and installed it ok. Set the 'zip-code' as per the instructions (UKXX0072 for Ipswich, UK). At first I was able to get weather details. Then I exited the program and restarted it. When I now select weather, I get the message window reading 'Error: Input string was not in a correct format.'
I've checked the plugin settings, they are still the same - any ideas?

Ian.

Error: input string was not in a correct format
Posted by: sisuomin - 2004-05-03, 07:46 PM - Forum: Developers - Replies (6)

Have anyone else got error: input string was not in a correct format.

If I use Finnish as my locale, I get this error when trying to use e.g. DiskSpace or Wheather plugin. With English (United States) both plugins work correctly.

  PVR 350 Not Found
Posted by: FilterGraph - 2004-05-03, 04:49 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (4)

I have the shuttle SB52G with a PVR 350. GBPVR wont start if I select it as the decoder. GBPVR states that the PVR 350 is not found. WINTV 2000 works (although I'm getting random 0xC5 errors). Any clues? I have XP Pro SP1a with all the updates from Hauppage.

  GB-PVR does not start..
Posted by: brturn - 2004-05-03, 03:15 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (8)

I'm having difficulty getting GB-PVR to start on my media machine. I've tried it on 2 other machines with no problem, but my media machine just won't run it.

Basic stats:
Shuttle mini-atx (Shuttle SN41G2)
Athalon 2400
256 MB RAM
160 + 40 GB drives

Windows 2000 + all patches
.NET platform v1.1
Java platform
MS Office + patches
Typical utility software load

I'm using the S-video output from the NForce to the TV for my monitor, which is about the only difference between my three home machines. The only other difference is NForce vs NVidia AGP cards. I chose the NForce platform to save space & fan noise, since it already had TV-out, 6-channel audio, and 3D-acceleration.

There are three problems I'm running into:
- When in config, and applying new changes, the software throws an exception when restarting the server. This occurs on ALL my machines.

- When starting the config on the media machine, it throws an exception because the Access DB is not the right version (but still appears to work).

- After configuration (tried many options, including different window managers), I launch GB-PVR. On the media machine, it simply doesn't launch. It doesn't show up in the task manager, nor produce any exception dialogs. Just doesn't start.

Anyone else encountered these errors?

Only recorded 10.5MB of my show, wtf?
Posted by: glassvial - 2004-05-03, 05:46 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (6)

I had a 1/2hr show scheduled to record. I was watching it at the same time (Live TV). It ended up only recording 10.5MB of it, needless to say which was basically NONE of the show. What happened?? [Image: mad.gif]

  Favorite channels
Posted by: glassvial - 2004-05-03, 12:04 AM - Forum: Wishlist - Replies (1)

Ok, one more then I promise I'll leave you alone [Image: smile.gif]

How about favorite channels? I know you can manually take out the ones you don't want (and believe me, I have) but generally there's only about 6-8 channels I watch all the time. It would be cool to see "at a glance" what's on my 6-8 channels, then if there's nothing, switch it to all channel mode.

Thanks again.

  Auto-padding per recording
Posted by: glassvial - 2004-05-02, 11:02 PM - Forum: Wishlist - Replies (4)

Here I am again with yet another suggestion, am I a pain in the azz or what? [Image: wink.gif]

How about an autopad per program? The standard 1 min in/out actually kinda screwed up some of my stuff I recorded back-to-back and that all ended on time. However there's usually programs that always run over by about 5-10 mins, it would be great on a case-by-case basis if you could somehow tell it to add xx minutes to the recording.

Thanks.

Quality level per recording, and repeat recordings
Posted by: glassvial - 2004-05-02, 10:52 PM - Forum: Wishlist - No Replies

I thought I saw the per-recording idea mentioned somewhere but I couldn't find it. There are some shows I'd like to record in a lot lower quality than others. Like a show I'm just going to watch then blow away, VCD or SVCD quality would be more than enough, why waste so much space on DVD quality (and yes, I know, I'd just blow it away afterwards anyway, but that's not the point).

The other thing I've seen brought up is the behavior of not recording the same show twice. Some networks re-run their shows a LOT before the next new episodes come along (Comedy Central is a prime example). In other words, an option such as "season record only new episodes" would be a good idea.

Creating a Radio Page (For FM broadcasts)
Posted by: Shappers - 2004-05-02, 07:00 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (25)

First things first, great program Sub.

I have a quick question, my MSOH won't take my HTPC into use until she can play her radio stations all day on it. It just so happens that none of the stations that she listens too are on the internet which means I must give her a nice easy page where she can select her FM stations. I was wondering how to make another page for FM radio transmissions which mimics the Net Radio page but instead lists her 4 or 5 stations instead. I have a PVR USB2 in the post (PVR250 for me & FM Tuner for her)! Is there an easy way to set this up?

Thanks in advance,

Shappers...
