  Plug-in architecture features
Posted by: gpupurs - 2004-02-10, 05:27 AM - Forum: Wishlist - Replies (1)

First, gotta say, this is really cool that there's a .NET PVR project that has the ability to have user-written plug-ins. I've got a ReplayTV, and I'm always thinking, "gee, it'd be really cool if it could do xy and z" or "gosh, why didn't they design the menu like this". But I'm a .Net/Windows programmer, so contributing to the MythTV and other linux projects where C and Perl are used isn't likely for me.

I'm excited to see I might be able to help out here. Some of the things I'd like the plugin framework to be able to handle:

- Custom scheduling behaviours (to replace any default record setup screens)
- Custom playback (eg, developing commercial skip)
- Preferred/Weighted recording decisions (prioritizing)
- Access to current recording schedule
- Custom EPG search (eg, restrict a search to timeslots where "Priority 1 or 2" shows are not already scheduled)
- Automated backup (offload MPGs to another machine)

Will the plugin framework be able to handle these requests? If so, cool, I'll start making a list of what I dislike about my Replay (though I still love it)!

  encoding dv-avi's with pvr350
Posted by: easydone - 2004-02-10, 02:54 AM - Forum: Wishlist - No Replies

Can the PVR350 only encode to mpeg from the analog inputs (tuner, composite or svideo) or is it also possible to encode avi's (which are already on the HD) to mpeg via the pvr350.

That would be very nice if it is possible....

Cheer, Chris

  tuning with Actisys IR
Posted by: clgnemesis - 2004-02-09, 04:25 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (1)

Channels with 1 in them tune to an incorrect channel (without the 1)
I have tried the learn function several times but I get the same result. I have not had this problem with sagetv or snapstream.

Any Ideas?

  More Suggestions.....
Posted by: lagrian - 2004-02-08, 08:17 PM - Forum: Wishlist - No Replies

When recording programs using the mvp it would be nice to see a clock in the tv guide so you can actually see what time it is. A real time one would be nice but I would be happy with one that showed the time last time you accessed the page.

A button to update the EPG within the UI rather than the config section. For instance I have setup a custom button to grab tv listings for the day but I still have to go into the config to update the EPG. I suppose a button would do it or a way I could add a line to my batch script to update gbpvr with new xml data after its finished.

exe Changer Plugin config doesn't save
Posted by: MaNIaCv1 - 2004-02-08, 04:55 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (10)

Hi,

I'm trying to use Girder and Event.exe to change channels on my cable box but the config won't save the settings. Is this known bug?.

One other thing, FF, RWD and Pause work fine in video playback but when timeshifting live TV only the Pause works, FF and RWD takes me back to the main menu.

I've just updated the EPG with 14 days of data covering more than 100 channels. Took a few minutes to load but it works like a charm. The mdb file is over 16MB now.

Other than these few minor problems GB-PVR is an excellent piece of work.

Thanks for all the time and effort Sub

  Live TV on MediaMVP
Posted by: lagrian - 2004-02-08, 12:59 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (8)

Hi,

I am running into problems with live tv on the MediaMVP it works fine on the pc but when on the mvp live tv plays for about 5 seconds and stops whilst crashing the gbpvr mediamvp server. When I look on my pc the livetv mpeg has captured about 10 seconds of tv. I am using the direct recording option.

Has anyone else experienced this problem ?

  During LiveTV menu stays visible
Posted by: mglvw - 2004-02-07, 11:30 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (10)

I just want to say that GB-PVR is a piece of art. It is incredible for a one-man-job. I'm a newby when it comes to GB-PVR, I used my set-up today for the first time to record some stuff.

I have two questions:

It stopped recording too soon, the padding is set at 5 before and 10 after, the show was 1h, but it only recorded 1:01:57.
What did I do wrong?
I have to add I pressed 'record show' in the EPG 3 minutes before the start of the show (so during the 5 minutes padding that would have been in front). Still I expected a total recording time of > 1:10:00 since the start padding was only partly needed but the 10 min end padding still had to be applied. It looks like since the first padding could not be fullfilled completly, the endpadding failed.
Is this observation correct?

I also have a question about liveTV:

What happens is (I use the 0.12 version), that when I start up GB-PVR, all works like a charm.
The first time I start up liveTV all works great. When after this I press the back or menu button, I of course end up in the main menu. After this the liveTV playback does not function correctly anymore. I can hear the sound but the main menu stays visible. The CH+ and CH- change the channel (I notice that since the sound changes). Pressing the Back button stops the liveTV and gives control back to the menu, the next attempt also fails.
During this strange situation I'm able to watch a recording correctly.
I have to restart GB-PVR to resolve this.

What could this be?

Thankz,
Michel

  My humble suggestions
Posted by: mjp - 2004-02-07, 09:32 PM - Forum: Wishlist - Replies (3)

Firstly, just wanted to say, top software !
Beats the pants off Sage TV, you have the OSD working great through the PVR 350 - which is my big hook.

I understand that Divx through the PVR 350 tv out is not available - Is it possible to have this software decoded and sent through the TV out ? (Im assuming not - I convert AVI to MPEG2 to put them in the video files folder at the moment and get a conversion rate of about 3 fps !Wink

Will you be introducing Pause of live TV ?

Would be nice to be able to suppress the mini channel info that pops up when viewing live TV - I use a cable decoder for input and that pops up channel info - the 2 of them can be confusing on screen at the same time !

Reminders would be nice - e.g. not auto record - just an on screen message to say that program you had flagged earlier was about to start (amount of time b4 program starts is in config.)

Hope you don't think the above are moaning - just suggestions, I think it's great what you are doing and am really appreciative of the work you are putting in on your own time to make this available to us - THANKS.

Cheers

Mark
