When i try to playback mpeg's recorded with my pvr-350 i get an error "Error: msg=0x202 (WM_LBUTTONUP) hwnd=......" when i click on "Play". If i copy the file to my "Video Library" and click on "Video Library" in the menu and then choose the file and click "Play" there is no problem.

I have been using the software for a few days now and I am very impressed so far. ( good job sub! ) I like its simplicity and and interface. Keep up th good work. I am admitting my ignorance here but I am not sure if what I am seeing is an error or the present state of things with Beta software. but anyways...

I can get My xmltv file to work and I have a working tv guide, now I am very new to xmltv too so maybe my blunder is there, but I woke up one morning and found nothing in my TV guide. OK I need to run a fresh xmltv file. Did that (after I realized I had to update my epg in the config program), but now the Season recordings dont seem to be create any "scheduled" recordings in the recording list as they did with the last file. If I delete the season recordings and then put them back my "scheduled" recordings come back.

Am I doing things right here? I want to use xmltv automate but its not really automatic when I have to go and update the epg manually. Is there a way to automate that?

BTW anyone have any good xmltv help links? (Iwant to add imdb)

First off, thanks for such a great program. I really like the user interface and the integration of all the features. I have a few issues I would like to try to work out.

Initially I could not get LiveTV working, but after reading the forum and registering those files suggested in another thread LiveTV started working. When I try to pause LiveTV, a few issues come up. Pausing works fine, but if I restart playing and then try to fast forward the file seems to restart playing at the point I paused. If I hit play while fast forwarding it again goes back to the pause point and starts playing normally from there. Occasionally, I will lose the audio stream as well. Playing a prerecorded file seems to work fine.

The second issue is in regard to the Hauppauge remote. I do not normally use the Hauppauge remote software. From the documentation it appeared that GB-PVR would handle the remote interface without the Hauppauge software running. For me, the remote only works if I run the Hauppauge remote software. Is this normal or is this feature not implemented yet? Maybe I did quite understand what was being said in the documentation.

I have been using this program for less than a day so I apologize if I have missed some obvious things, but I browsed and searched the forums and haven't seen anything related posted. Thanks for the help.

Okay, you've seen Newbie posts.  Well, I am the newest of the newbies.  I don't have a tuner card, I don't have any software in relation to dvrs, I don't have Tivo, have never had Tivo, nor have even seen Tivo.  Yes, I am the one. But I'm not a total dimwit, I do have some skills, and I think I can pull this off.

The whole concept of Tivo has puzzled me for a while.  Being a programmer, and also working in IT with hardware, I couldn't quite understand why a subscription was needed to pull this off (recording). So, I'm quite happy to have found this forum, and the gbpvr website.

So, my question is, what steps do I need to take to get started building a dvr from ground zero, with very little knowledge of Tivo-like software and hardware?

I have a spare computer and a 80GB drive in it. What is the recommendation of processor and video card (I was going to be purchasing a motherboard, cpu, and video card this weekend to rebuild this machine anyway)? I would like to use this machine as a dvr.

I can install Windows 2000 Pro or XP (Is the Home edition okay), whichever is recommended. And from what I've read, the Hauppauge PVR350 is the card of choice?

Once I have the machine built, is my next step going to be to  download the beta-version of GBPVR, and follow the setup instructions? What then?

We have DirecTv as the source of our televisions.  My goals are to build a Tivo like machine and to gain a better understanding of this technology works.

First, gotta say, this is really cool that there's a .NET PVR project that has the ability to have user-written plug-ins. I've got a ReplayTV, and I'm always thinking, "gee, it'd be really cool if it could do xy and z" or "gosh, why didn't they design the menu like this". But I'm a .Net/Windows programmer, so contributing to the MythTV and other linux projects where C and Perl are used isn't likely for me.

I'm excited to see I might be able to help out here. Some of the things I'd like the plugin framework to be able to handle:

- Custom scheduling behaviours (to replace any default record setup screens)
- Custom playback (eg, developing commercial skip)
- Preferred/Weighted recording decisions (prioritizing)
- Access to current recording schedule
- Custom EPG search (eg, restrict a search to timeslots where "Priority 1 or 2" shows are not already scheduled)
- Automated backup (offload MPGs to another machine)

Will the plugin framework be able to handle these requests? If so, cool, I'll start making a list of what I dislike about my Replay (though I still love it)!

Can the PVR350 only encode to mpeg from the analog inputs (tuner, composite or svideo) or is it also possible to encode avi's (which are already on the HD) to mpeg via the pvr350.

That would be very nice if it is possible....

I have tried the learn function several times but I get the same result. I have not had this problem with sagetv or snapstream.

Any Ideas?

I am looking for people to help me develop a new skin. I have done alot of the ground work (working in paint shop pro) and need some artisitc help woth icons (folders and file images) and prehaps some work with the OSD (my development machine is seperate from the machine with the hauppauge card in so i can't view the OSD on the computer i do the work on). When recording programs using the mvp it would be nice to see a clock in the tv guide so you can actually see what time it is. A real time one would be nice but I would be happy with one that showed the time last time you accessed the page.

A button to update the EPG within the UI rather than the config section. For instance I have setup a custom button to grab tv listings for the day but I still have to go into the config to update the EPG. I suppose a button would do it or a way I could add a line to my batch script to update gbpvr with new xml data after its finished.

I'm trying to use Girder and Event.exe to change channels on my cable box but the config won't save the settings. Is this known bug?.

One other thing, FF, RWD and Pause work fine in video playback but when timeshifting live TV only the Pause works, FF and RWD takes me back to the main menu.  

I've just updated the EPG with 14 days of data covering more than 100 channels. Took a few minutes to load but it works like a charm. The mdb file is over 16MB now.  

Other than these few minor problems GB-PVR is an excellent piece of work.
