NPVR Release Patches
Posted by: jcole998 - 2016-08-19, 01:28 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (16)

After a new version of NPVR is released, problems occasionally surface that are posted and, for the most part, quickly resolved. Some resolutions take the form of a "patch." Is there somewhere in the forum that lists the currently applicable patches for the latest release? What is the best way to get the all the patches that have been posted for a release? It would be a great way to check to see if a problem already has a fix and also keep a release at the latest level.

  Npvr 3.7.7 media recording directories
Posted by: sub - 2016-08-18, 08:08 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (6)

jrockow Wrote:sub,
I tried to import a .ts file but it wouldn't go without any metadata.
When it comes to directly importing .ts files, this is really only intended to importing NextPVR recordings from an NTFS drive (these types of recordings have extra metadata embedded in them, and the import process reads that metadata to reconstruct the recording).

UPDATE: Sorry, a problem fixed with the new webserver clock has caused the rest of the posts in this thread to be in the future, so things are out of order...

  Can't stream with Modern Web
Posted by: Jokabomo - 2016-08-17, 10:19 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (7)

My wife wanted to watch on her iPad so I tried to use the web interface for the first time. It didn't load and found config-web.xml was corrupt so I deleted it. Restarted. It all loaded ok, but when I went to play a recorded show, it refused. Here's a screen shot from Chrome:

Here is the log: And the config:

Any suggestions? Thanks.

3.6.6 hated "Canada's Worst Driver", not sure if 3.7.7 will work with it and more!
Posted by: GuruSR - 2016-08-17, 10:09 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (3)

First, 3.6.6 was working "fine" (relatively), every now and again it would crash right in the middle of watching a show, but oddly enough one show in particular did it always (about half way through the show [30mins/60mins]), "Canada's Worst Driver" (must hate that show or something). Now I've taken out the K-Lite, added the latest SAF (as of yesterday), added 3.7.7 in (still no "Settings" from that menu on the left making me have to quit the program and use the newly added settings option in the icon, just to scan for new channels, especially difficult with that minute font size that settings window has on a large TV).

After putting 3.7.7 in, I found the same issues that 3.6.6 had, the mouse on the remote will let me get the menu while in the TV Guide, but the right context menu (Back button usage) requires 2 times quickly to get it to show the menu (so nothing new, just have to hammer that back button to get it to happen, remote abuse, but it's is still present).

Video playback is 2 seconds behind the audio, skipping ahead multiple times doesn't update the display at all (time bar at the bottom either), annoying when ComSkip doesn't get it right and I have to go searching manually, means pausing 2 seconds between each skip or I see no video change. On another PC (not mine), NPVR is installed, it too has the same 2 second no-video update, after a skip or at the beginning of playback.

ATSC OTA EPG'ed guide results says every show is "New", even shows that aren't. The android app I use that lists OTA tv listings shows them as not-new. With this happening, I'm still seeing it recording repeats when I have it set for "All new shows" on all my recordings.

Guide: Scrolling up and down with the remote (or the arrow keys on the keyboard) results in the spot that the "cursor" in the guide is in, to shift earlier in time (eventually it goes off-screen). When I'm scrolling up and down at 7pm looking for a show, I'd like it to stay in the 7pm range and not shift all the way down to 6am (this isn't a problem if you use a mouse with it, but HTPCs with remotes, this is frustrating).

Recurring Programs: Uneditable, the lot of them, the < > at the end do nothing, if I want to change the hour of the start/stop of a show, I must delete the recording and start over. From a remote standpoint, nothing worked, turned the mouse on and nothing worked, those arrows at the end are dead (they didn't work in 3.6.6 either). They only work in new recordings, once it's created, those arrows don't work in Update, have to Cancel and start again.

Settings: True HTPC usage would mean Full Screen, no task bar, no title bar, no anything but your software up front and personal. Sadly, the settings are completely gone at that point (especially if you use the Right Context for the Back button). The font size in your settings window is difficult to read unless you're up in front of your TV (under 3 feet). Is there no way to incorporate the entire settings into the actual GUI itself and not have a separate window? This would help make the software more "couch friendly", as you could take comfort seeing those new fonts you added (yes, they're nicer in 3.7.7, thanks) and let people scan for channels in the actual program and not some settings window.

ATSC: Does NPVR recognize the addition of channels that happen from time to time, channels show up on the TV automatically, can NPVR be capable of doing this? Would remove the need for a scan each time a new one shows up.

3.6.6 couldn't scan channels properly in ATSC, the original software that came with the tuner (TotalMedia) was able to scan some 44 channels and yet 3.6.6 found 6, so the person who has that PC is back to the TotalMedia because even though it's a clunky piece of software, it scanned the channels fully. It has built-in scanning and settings in it, which NPVR also frustrated the user due to it's small font size in Settings on the TV (person is a senior, so err, yeah). I did see something about scanning timeouts, is there a way to make NPVR "test" longer for a channel than it was in 3.6.6? If so, NPVR could perhaps find the channels properly as the TotalMedia software does, which would be a nicer thing as TotalMedia loves recording in 60fps x 1080i, today's TVs seriously don't need 60fps.

Why Do People Upgrade to Windows 10?
Posted by: ga_mueller - 2016-08-17, 12:58 AM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (12)

Longtime user here. I'm just curious about all the people upgrading to W10, with all of the associated problems. I have a W7 NextPVR system and it's perfect. I don't care if W10 is free. I regret upgrading to 3.7.7 because it introduced problems.

I'm not going to do it again. Why is everyone else doing it.... ?

Recording Service not running at Recording Time
Posted by: Barry10 - 2016-08-16, 03:59 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (3)

Also getting the crash.mdmp again. I installed the latest version about a week ago, but the message often occurs.

It records for about 3 minutes then dies.

Attached are the log files. I do have an C:\temp created and most of the time the error does not occur, but lately about 1 out of 4 recording has an issue. Also does the new release from Nextprr.com download have all the updates? I reported this issue a while back, but switched back to 3.6.6, now I am on the latest 3.7 version. Never had any issues on 3.6.6

  Minimum System Requirements
Posted by: VCR58 - 2016-08-16, 02:50 PM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (3)

I am currently using NPVR 3.7.7 on a Windows 10 PC with an i3 550 3.2G dual core CPU and 8G RAM and a SSD. The tuner is an HD Homerun Extend. I also have an NVIDIA video card with 1G on board ram.

When running a web stream (Edge browser) from another PC on the network at the max quality setting the CPU runs just under 100%.

Is it time to upgrade?

I would like some ideas as to what kind of system I need to be shopping for. Intel CPU preferred.

NextPVR crashes on every recording on Windows 10 64bit 1607 14939.51.
Posted by: jsburch - 2016-08-16, 02:12 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - No Replies

Since I upgraded to Windows 10 Anniversary update 64bit 1607 (14393.51) I've had problems with the NRecord.exe service crashing on NextPVR 3.7.7. It usually happens less than 30 minutes into a program. We've been recording a lot of the Olympics so they last awhile. I've gone back to 3.6.6 and it is working normally.

Here is the Event Viewer log and it's the same program each time. I have a Hauppauge Win TV-HVR-2255 and use Schedules Direct for my guide service. I've included the crash.mdmp file. Has anyone else seen this problem? I saw no evidence of the crash in any of the logs, just the dump file it created.

MCEBuddy TS Unprocessed not read by NPVR
Posted by: JBoho - 2016-08-16, 12:04 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (2)

Hi,
I just moved away from WMC on my Win 8.1 machine to NextPVR. I have both MCEBuddy and Comskip donator versions. I'm a very basic user of NPVR, MCEBuddy, and Comskip and don't understand much of the jargon so sorry if I don't use the correct verbiage.

I only want to remove commercials from the NextPVR recordings and keep them in the original format and location so that they show up in the Recordings window.

MCEBuddy has an option called "TS Unprocessed" that is supposed to keep the original TS format and only remove the commercials. After processing the original recordings using TS Unprocessed NPVR does not seem them in Recordings. When I move them to the Videos folder, NPVR sees the files, but cannot play them.

Is there a way to use MCEBuddy to strip the commercials while keeping the TS format so that NPVR still shows them in Recordings with the associated metadata?

Jimbo
