New Recording Screen Not Deleting Files
Posted by: Lao Pan - 2016-03-01, 10:50 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (3)

When deleting recordings from the Whats New Recordings Screen it works as expected.
If deleting recordings from the "New Style" Ready Recordings Screen, it deletes the database entry but does not delete the files from the disk. This is both using the left hand menu and top menu delete buttons.

I realize there is unlikely to be a fix at the moment, but could you check it for the next release Sub? Unless there is a problem with my setup causing this.

Jarvis Confluence Skin Mods with XNEWA Integration
Posted by: pkscout - 2016-03-01, 12:22 AM - Forum: X-NEWA - Replies (11)

I've updated my Confluence mods for Jarvis. The important ones for this group are the ones that let you expose parts of the XNEWA interface instead of the Kodi stuff for things like Upcoming Recordings, Recurring Recordings, Guide, etc. If you're using my Insegard mods, these are basically the same with one exception. The XNEWA dashboard and NPVR web client links will no longer show up in the TV sub menu on the home screen. They are in the side blade when you enter the actual TV section.

FEATURES
- support for Artist Slideshow (enabled by default)
http://wiki.xbmc.org/index.php?title=Add..._Slideshow
- support for library.data.provider random and recent movies/tv shows on home screen (enabled by default)
http://forum.kodi.tv/showthread.php?tid=210063
- support for Revamp theme by uNiversal (enabled by default)
http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?tid=203291
- update to MediaView3 to show episode count in TV show list
- Clock and weather persistent across most screens (when clock is enabled)
- shorter version of date available when clock is present
- Kodi label moved to lower right corner and is persistent (RSS feeds shifted accordingly)
- option to show/hide Recordings links in TV
- option to show/hide TV episode/season numbers on home screen (hidden by default)
- option to show/hide music disc numbers on home screen/music visualization (hidden by default)
- option to hide image preview in favorites blade and show more favorites on one screen
- if you are running NextPVR and XNEWA, options are available to use portions of XNEWA
instead of the default PVR interfaces under LiveTV

You'll need to download it from my skin repo (same one if you already have it). You can technically download it from Github, but then you're on your own for the dependency downloads.

  Recordings refresh
Posted by: Redwingsfansfc - 2016-02-29, 11:05 PM - Forum: Kodi / XBMC - Replies (19)

Repost from Kodi Forums concerning recordings refresh on Kodi v16. Apparently there may be others.

R post not intended for faster action, just figured it may be helpful on both boards.

Sub it's back again. Last three days straight. Nothing that I can see that would hold it up like you mentioned. Checked antivirus scan folders, or anything that may interrupt the process. takes a kodi restart to refresh.

V16, Windows 10, AMD A107850, 16g of ram.

The backend is just fine, no issues. All recordings ready to go, so it seems like it's the Kodi interface.

What do you need me to post, certain portion of kodi log, Or do you need a full log? Let me know.

Automatically Pick Best Quality Signal Source for OTA recording?
Posted by: Coosa - 2016-02-29, 10:15 AM - Forum: Wishlist - Replies (1)

I'm migrating from Windows Media Center (I hope).

My setup is OTA only. TV signals come from 3 antennas pointing in different directions to ATSC broadcast towers. A couple channels require a certain antenna for any reception, other channels work better from a different antenna and sometimes OK from other antennas. Some channels even come in fine on all 3 antennas.

With separate tuners on each antenna, under Windows Media Center I had to assign tuner priority on a channel by channel basis to the more difficult channels. But with NPVR there is one global tuner priority order --which is fine if all tuners have the same signal quality for a channel, and it does avoid picking tuners that can not receive a channel at all.

But as a user, I don't care much about setting tuner priority --I just want a good recording from a good signal source. If NPVR could notice signal quality (or strength) for each channel automatically, it might be able to weigh that when picking a signal source for recording. And since signal quality varies with time and weather, an ongoing rating might help too.

It is quite a challenge to figure out how to set the tuner selection priority in a way that will work well for me, because the quality of source signals vary between tuners (antennas) non-uniformly.

I did see one forum discussion that seemed to hint that a tuner device could appear in the Settings > Devices priority list more than once, but that was unclear. If it were possible to repeat the same tuner in the Devices list, and also edit the associated channel lists so they vary between the instances of the same tuner device, then I suppose I could work-around the global tuner priority limit with some careful effort.

But I'd really rather just have the best signal source get selected automatically, wouldn't you?

npvr only finds one atsc tuner on Hauppauge 7164 tuner card
Posted by: johndutcher - 2016-02-28, 10:08 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - No Replies

I have set up npvr to work with my Hauppauge hvr-2250 (listed the wrong card in the title, sorry)dual tuner card (win 7 64bit, antenna). For devices, it finds both analog tuners (#1 and #2), both QAM tuners (#1 and #2), but only one atsc tuner. NPVR sees the second (#2) tuner , but thinks it is a qam tuner. Therefore, I can't scan for atsc channels on it. So I can't record two shows at once (error - no tuner available). Both atsc tuners are id'd on Windows Media Center and can be used to record two shows at the same time. I've searched the forums and can't find any help for this problem. Any ideas on how to fix this?
I believe I've attached the logs if that is any help.

Thanks,

Way to choose transcode setting on HDHR Extend?
Posted by: Bobomo - 2016-02-28, 08:35 PM - Forum: Hardware - Replies (6)

The HDHR Extend has a variety of settings for the level of transcoding it applies to the ATSC MPEG2 stream in order to provide h.264. I have it set to "mobile" because that generally offers the best compromise between quality and recording file size. However, there are certain shows I record mostly for building a library (syndicated sitcoms etc), and I'm willing to sacrifice more quality for a smaller file size. I can always transcode later, but that defeats the purpose of buying the HDHR Extend in the first place!

So, my question is: for any given NPVR scheduled recording, is there a way to pass the quality setting to the HDHR device?

Thanks - Bob

If show name ends with a period, recording folder misnamed
Posted by: BrettB - 2016-02-28, 03:32 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (26)

I've been having an issue where occasionally, X-NEWA playback of show recordings wasn't loading the .edl data into the Kodi player. It didn't happen too often, and I'd never tracked down the reason. But tonight, I had a little time so I took a closer look.

It appears that when a show's name/title ends with a period ("Chicago P.D."), the recording folder that NextPVR creates does not have the period at the end ("E:\NPVR Recordings2\Chicago P.D\" instead of "E:\NPVR Recordings2\Chicago P.D.\"). But, the row in the SCHEDULED_RECORDINGS table lists the filename with period at the end ("E:\NPVR Recordings2\Chicago P.D.\Chicago P.D..S03E16.The Cases That Need to Be Solved.ts").

When X-NEWA tries to use the path substitution to open the recording file via Samba (and get the .edl file), it fails to find the file because the folder name in the share doesn't match the folder name in the database. So then it falls back to requesting the file via HTTP streaming by OID. NextPVR on the server somehow manages to find the file and stream it, so Kodi does end up playing the file--just without the .edl data.
