I have a very strange issue that I can't seem to figure out. I don't believe I've made any changes to my nextpvr setup in months. However, all of the sudden my recordings seemed to be failing to record. Newa shows them as available, however there are no files in my recording directory. After scratching my head, looking at logs and uninstalling/reinstalling I was giving up. Then I decided to go into newa and attempt to play one of these supposedly available recordings. They play through newa and vlc just fine. I just can't find them! Kodi can't find them either.
If I go into the video library of newa and navigate to the folder I picked to store recordings, they are magically all in there. Something screwy is going on. Here's what I've tried.
Uninstall/reinstall with full device setup and even created and used a new directory that I made through the nextpvr config screen.
Hidden and system files are shown and I'm using Windows 10.
I went through the support sticky and made sure I made all of the changes requested. Installed dx, disabled windows firewall completely, checked folder permissions.
One last thing to add. If I record a show while inside of Kodi it will record and it will record to the correct directory where I can see it both in Windows and in Kodi under Recordings.
Could some kind person explain to me the process that NextPVR goes through when streaming an MP4 (previously transcoded with ffmpeg from .ts) to a client using port 8866.
The reason for asking is that I am getting about 450ms lip sync delay on the video when I use VLC on a client pc with this:-
But if I use VLC to access the file directly with this:-
Code:
F:\Media\temp\Strictly Come Dancing\Strictly.Come.Dancing.S13E08.Part.One.mp4
(F: mapped to \\192.168.0.101)
There is no discernible lip sync issue.
I'm using VLC here to try to reduce unknowns and because it lets me adjust the sync. However the real issue is on my Samsung TV's which exhibit the same problem, but with no way to adjust it.
I donât want to start messing with decoders etc that I'm assuming aren't used, but without understanding what is going on I cant guess what to look at. I dont think the ts to mp4 transcode is responsible as it plays fine however I play it on the server.
Some recorded programs seem better than others, but 'Strictly' seems to be a problem every week and it driving the boss nuts!
Hi sub and rkulagow. Sub added the option to download landscape artwork from Schedules Direct in order for Emby to get better image metadata. It seems that its only possible to receive landscape artwork in 360 x 270 resolution, which make the aspect ratio 4:3. Attachment 1. shows how that would look in Emby.
The second attachment shows that EmbyTV (built in service for HDHomeruns) seems to use different aspect ratio to get landscape thumbs from Schedules Direct.
Could there be an option to make NPVR get similar artwork from Schedules Direct to what Emby gets?
I have 1 niggle, and whether or not is NPVR I do not know, but here goes.
So I boot up HTPC. Kodi loads up, I try to put live TV on and the working symbol just keeps spinning, the working symbol will eventually stop, but still no TV. (Tuner no longer available will pop up) I restart Kodi & I do notice that the NPVR tray icon turns red and then goes white when I do this.
Live TV then works perfectly fine, until the next reboot.
I am having one of the stranger problems I have ever had. I set up my OTA tv with Windows Media Center and a AverMedia USB tuner. At first I had a weak signal and cut outs. I got the antenna higher and got to where I got a good signal on nearly all of the main local channels. Possibly some at first but especially later on I started getting very strange audio but with no video problems at all. When I would click on a channel the main audio (say the commentators on a sports event or the host on a talk show) would be very weak yet the secondary audio like the on field sounds or the laugh track were normal level. The commercials were nearly always fine. This was all pretty intermittent. I might be able to go to another channel or back and forth and it would work, but usually not. A channel may be working fine but starting a recording may kill it. I thought maybe some kind of wmc fault or the tuner fault, but this continued when I set up NextPVR to use it. Even going to a Hauppauge pci tuner has the same problem. I have added an antenna signal booster which shows up a stronger signal in wmc tests and added a couple channels and although with a perfect picture with never any hiccups I still have the audio problem. I had contacted a local tv station and they did say that there is different audio on some programming so it could possibly be one of the stereo channel being the problem. I use my pc and sound system for many other uses and it does not nor has it ever had any kind of similar problem at all. Any ideas on this or where else I can ask?
Edit: I have been trying this setup on and off today and it has worked fine all day. I am not fully comfortable that this will continue though so I'd still like any ideas if possible. I am hoping this went away somehow, but we'll see.
Sub,
Will 3.6 be so "different" that it will be like learning a totally new program or will the "changes" sort of blend in with the configuration we already have?
Ok thinking about trying NextPVR software. Right now long time user of Sage TV. Reason thinking about trying NextPVR. In Saged TV I have been using 3 capture cards. All Hauupauge cards, one PVR-150 connected to Verizon STB Via S-video/audio cables. No HD but can get all the cable channels. Two other cards 1600 connected to Antenna to get HD over the air which is what I mainly watch. BUT when its real windy outside have problems getting the over the air channels.
So I thought I would just connect the 1600 cards to the Verizon cable TV line (NO STB) and tune in via Clear QAM which would give me all the channels I get with antenna in HD but no need for antenna . Problem Sage TV is kinda dumb in that I have my PVR-150 card which is connected to the Verizon STB set to tune in ONLY the cable channels I don't get with the 1600 cards. That worked fine when I used antenna for the 1600 cards but when using Clear QAM when setting what channels each card should tune it couples all the cards ,,for example I say to for both 1600 cards to tune in 2-1 which is NBC over the air it also sets the PVR-150 card with that channel or another example I set the PVR-150 card to tune in 550 which is USA network it also sets that for both 1600 cards which since there tuning in via Clear QAM they cant tune in 550 yet it tries anyway. Hence making this setup not usable. It couples all there cards channel numbers. Iam like WTF.
So can NextPVR have 3 capture cards, one capture card connected to a STB and two other cards connected to cable line BUT no STB and have different channels for the card connected to STB. Another example. I want only the two cards connected to the cable line with no STB to tune in 2-1,4-1,7-1,23-1,29-1,49-1, but NOT any of those channels for the PVR-150 which is connected to the STB . So say I have the Blacklist set to record it would only try to use the Clear QAM tuners not and try to use the PVR-150 as I only want that card to tune in channels like USA,TNT,FX,TBS.
I decided to try Kodi 16 today. Tried to enable the PVR add-on for NextPVR. It complains that you need NextPVR version 3.6 or older. What up with that? I don't see a download for 3.6 yet, is it coming soon?
for a few days things have been fairly stable. Now last night we had all our recordings simply not work. The recording folders were created but no files. ALso, tuning wouldnt' work. Restarting all services left NPVR in state where it complained about "no tuners available". The only fix was to reboot the machine.
