Overdriven sound

I'm having problems with the sound distorting on both live viewing and recordings. I noticed the problem was particularly bad when I made recordings from my VCR using gbpvr. I am using a Hauppauge 150 card.

Is there a way to reduce the volume so as to fix this problem? Thanks.

My solution was to install an equalizer on the input of my pvr150 and adjust the sound input with a slider. Still awaiting a proper fix from Hauppauge but with my method I can limit the input to the card which cleans up the sound.
