No Playback sound

I have just set up a system on a Toshiba laptop running Windows Vista Home. All facilities work 100% except that there is no sound during live TV viewing or playback, but replaying recordings using VLC produces perfectly normal sound.
I have tried setting the audio renderer to system default and to "Speakers - Toshiba High Def Audio" which is the output shown by volume control in the status bar. All codecs are set to the appropriate ffdshow option.
Any suggestions would be welcomed.

Are you using DVB-T? If so, what HE-AAC decoder do you have selected?

Yes. I am using the only one shown as available - ffdshow Audio Decoder, which is the same one I use on my desktop computer for a similar installation.

I've never heard of anyone using that decoder for HE-AAC, and I'm pretty sure it wouldnt work for this audio format. Try installing and selecting the monogram aac decoder: http://blog.monogram.sk/janos/2009/03/08...oder-0960/

Ok. I've downloaded the zip file for the monogram decoder and extracted the .ax file which it contains. Where do I copy the file to, and how do I register it?

copy it your c:\ drive or something (anywhere really)

then "regsvr32 mmaacd.ax" (orwhatever the ax file is)

Thank you I now have it working on the Vista machine, but I can't understand why it works perfectly well on both an XP Pro machine and on a Win 7 Pro box without this codec installed :confused

But I have now installed it on both the other machine as insurance.
