I was burning an episode of a show to DVD today and noticed that shows I've recorded in GB-PVR look great when played back through GB-PVR, but look darker and more saturated when played back through another program like Windows Media Player, or Nero ShowTime.

The show I burned to DVD looks rather dark so I was wondering if there was some way to avoid this problem going forward.

I found it to be that I have GB set to VMR9, and I think WMP uses Overlay.

Switch one to the other (eaisest is to make GB Overlay) and look again.

I like VMR9 for GB too much, so I've used nVidia card and Haup tweak settings to make output favor that playback. Easy if it's a dedicated GB TV box.

Wow! You totally nailed that one Smile

I was indeed the difference between using VMR9 and Overlay.

This raises another question from me which is, does the MVP output more closely match Overlay or VMR9? I'm guessing the answer is Overlay, which would imply that I should probably tune my recordings to look better in Overlay mode since my primary output device is an MVP at this point.
