Hi Guys!

I have a low powered PC (PII 266Mhz) and I am trying to find a way to stream video to it with an interface similar to this GB-PVR software. I was wondering if there was a Windows frount end that could be used to connect to the server?

Or any other suggestions?

Many thanks,

Chris

GBPVR can be configured as a client. Its not a supported function but it works Search the fourm for "gbpvr client" (http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php...pvr+client). That said I'm not sure it will run on your PC. You need Windows 2000 or XP, I'm not sure either will run on the pc you indicated. (At least it won't run well)

Can your PC play mpeg2 files now?
GBPVR Server:
AMD Sempron 3300+, 1gb DDR, 100, 200 & 500gb HDDs, DVD -/+RW PVR150 RETAIL, PVR150MCE.
GBPVR 1.0.16, SKIN'S = Default Blue, PLUGIN'S = None

I experimented with a k6-400 & windows 2000.
with a stripped down version of media player I found online it played mpeg2 files off my lan if I didn't touch the PC.
mpeg4? forget about it.

Hi guys,

Yes but it sounds like the decoding is done locally on the client and the files just streamed over the network. I can;t believe that the MediaMVP is more powerful than a PII 266? and they are able to connect and display the video? Is there anyway to simulate the MediaMVP?

The MediaMVP has built in MPEG2 decoding hardware.

That PC is way too slow to run any GB-PVR software. The recommended minimum is a 1GHz PIII class CPU.

i got it to work on a 400mhz.

i put my dvd software in one computer and shared the drive across the network.

i installed the software over the network(you can do that, rather cool)

i did this with all the computers on the network.

with web interface you can control gbpvr and with the dvd software installed you can watch any file on the gbpvr server.

I tried a PII 400 laptop with Win2K. Fine for music etc, but could not process the Mpeg2 video fast enough for smooth playback. Can't remember what graphics it had...probably 16Mb maybe 32Mb.

You may be better to grap a PIII 1.0G or similar from a swap meet. Probably save yourself a lot of frustration.....
Core2-E2180, 1G RAM, 1Gb-5450 Silent, 2Tb +300g HDDs.
Three tuners: Twinhan DVB-T x 1, Hauppauge Nova 500T (dual)

DTB Digital SD + HD content (PAL-MPEG2-AC3).
Custom case made very quiet. Zalman CPU cooler.
Sits in rack with other HiFi.

ParaLED to show tuner activity.
