Hello Forum,
A couple of questions for my first post here.

I installed GBPVR and got the MVP server up and running after searching and following the advice given in forums. I much prefer the TV interface over the original hauppauge.

The MVP is currently playing a recording of King Kong (the 70s remake) that I made (today)with the DEC2000-T and apparently playback is perfect.
A new experience with a non stream-fixed recording from the DEC - usually I have to run them through Videoredo to play over the MVP properly.
Could this be a result of using GBPVR???

I have searched this forum and the hauppauge one to try and find out if it is possible to run/control the DEC2000 in GBPVR the way it can with Showshifter

1) does anyone know if this can be acheived ??
2) or if it will be directly supported in a future version??

GB-PVR only supports DVB devices with BDA drivers. This is most devices these days, but unfortunately I think the DEC2000 is not one of them.

This device will not be supported unless the manufacturer provides BDA drivers.

Cheers sub,
Not at all sure what drivers are used by the DEC - but this will save me some time googling in expectant hope. Its frustrating though - Showshifter can run the DEC2000 no problem but they seem quite resolute about not supporting the MVP whilst the development for MVP support with GBPVR shows that this is eminently acheivable. Makes me wonder if they are tied to a deal with Hauppauge to not support the MVP for some reason.(They are advertised on the Hauppauge site for third party software)

Perhaps its time to replace my old DEC with something new and GBPVR compatible - but what to choose??

I'm also reluctant to totally replace the DEC as its raw recordings can be burnt straight to a DVD and played faithfully in my stand-alone DVD player (Targa 5100) in outstanding original digital qualty.

Anyway enough musing - thanks for your reply

Unfortunately the DEC2000-t can never support BDA without some very ugly hacks and I doubt TechnoTrend/Hauppauge would ever venture down that path.

Hauppauge can't do much with the DEC2000-t because it's really a TechnoTrend product with proprietary interfaces. The newer DTT ranges use Hauppauge's own software and so will work with the MVP.

Similarly I don't see HMN ever supporting the MediaMVP - they've been very quiet since they were bought out earlier this year, and the software has fallen behind most of the competition.

welll thanks Chris
I am used to following your advice in the hauppauge forum - but how is it that Showshifter are able to control the DEC - so far as I am aware there is no SDK or API made available for this device- although I have seen some developments in the Linux community (beyond my ken at the moment) .
I have been able to download the SDK for the technotrend budget USB satellite box - are they prohibited from doing so for the DEC??
What is going on?

TechnoTrend will send you the SDK if you e-mail them, but they don't offer it for direct download. Ask for TechnoTrend TT-Micro+. Latest SDK is 2.19 IIRC.
