After a few days of rebooting, reinstalling I finally got the basic PVR functionality going. I would like to share two issues:
1. After booting p the PC on of the days, the GBPVR icon was missing both on the desktop and the start menu. On opening the configuration file, I got an mdb error (see the attached files). I had to uninstall and reinstall GBPVR to get it running again. Has not recurred again (yet). I do not know if this is a bug, but i thought that the developers may be interested.
2. After a few minutes of use, the interface used to become very slow, the channel changes taking 15-20 seconds. The entire system used to hang up frequently requiring a hard reboot especially after pause play. I read somewhere about heating issues with PVR 350, so i got a slot cooler fan from circuitcity (11.99 $) and installed in the slot adjacent to the PVR card. The system now works without the hangups. Last night, just to test things, I had it on for the entire night (recorded a Everybody loves Raymond episode and a movie from TBS). It was still runnng in the morning, with only little delay in the interface.
Finally, i think the mpg editor which came with PVR 350 is superb. I could edit the ELR episode (remove the pre and post padding and the commercials) and have it ready to watch as an uninterrupted file in less than 2 minutes.
cheers
