controlling cable box from pc

Can anyone from the UK here tell me what hardware setup i need/works with GB-PVr and telewest cable box to enable the computer to change channels for me.
IR blaster, or something similar

Dunno if your cable box can accept RS232 commands? Most don't but if yours can then all you need is a serial cable

More likely you need an IR transmitter as you say. I have found the USBUIRT to work very well with SkyNZ settop boxes and GBPVR. Get 'em here: http://www.usbuirt.com. I got the 56KHz option to be on the safe side. These offer the possiblity of controlling multiple devices from one unit, but I don't know if anyone's tried that with GBPVR yet.

Others have found the Actisys IR200L also works well.
