I just went into the TV Guide to re-add recurring recordings for SG1, SGA, and BSG, and I am faced with this..

[Image: guide-fubar.png]

Using PERL, I attained the following for SG1 from the database...

recording_group = 28
capture_source_oid = 1
quality_level = 1
status = 4
oid = 516
pre_pad_minutes = 1
manual_start_time = 2006-01-06 18:00:00
programme_oid = 461750
filename = Stargate SG-1
manual_channel_oid = 137
manual_end_time = 2006-01-06 22:00:00
post_pad_minutes = 0
recording_type = 5

This program does not, nor SGA, nor BSG, last *4* hours. The start time is correct, as all they are. The episodes I selected were from Jan 6th and do not show up as lasting 4 hours in the guide. Luckily, it seems to have scheduled the Jan 6th episodes for each of these series, though I don't possibly see why it would when it's *this* broken.

Version: latest.

I just upgraded to see if it would stop doing this, it has not. I'm getting kind of tired of having to fix these by manipulating the database by hand. Am I screwing this up somehow?

What you are seeing is the timeslot. It is saying it'll record any episode of SG/SGA/BSG that starts within that four hour timeslot. Its not saying the show runs for four hours. This is the master record. The actual pending episodes that get scheduled will show the real duration.

I don't under any circumstances want it to record any episode of the show in a four hour block. I just realized it doesn't even have the right start time. SG1 starts at 8, not 6, as the graphic shows.

Either I set it up wrong, or it's not working right. This isn't how PVR's behave.

Yes, this is how it's supposed to work.

This 4hr timeslot is to allow for adjustments to the broadcasters schedule. Often a sports event or other special TV show can cause an episode of a show to start late or early some weeks. This timeslot ensures that these shows will still be recorded.

The timeslot is actually the original recordings start time +/- 2hrs, since shows can also start early some weeks. If you not happy with the size of the default timeslot, you can change it by editing config.xml, and changing the <AllowableTimeslotVariance> setting. Be warned though, if you set it to 0 minutes, then it will miss shows if the start time moves.
