I noticed CompUSA is selling a couple new TV cards, and both look suspiciously like a re-branded Hauppauge card. They're pretty cheap too. Does anyone know anything about this?

One CompUSA sells with their own name on it: http://www.compusa.com/products/product_...8&pfp=cat3 Check out the remote... looks almost identical to the Hauppauge 34-button remote, and when I looked at the package in the store the picture of the card sure looks like a Hauppauge card too. Low hardware requirements too (400 MHz system), typical of hardware encoding. $39.99.

The second card is a Pro version which features a different remote and claims to support recording in MPEG1, MPEG2, MPEG4 and AVI formats. http://www.compusa.com/products/product_...pfp=BROWSE Again, the card looks like a Hauppauge card but the remote is unique. The claimed native support of MPEG4 and AVI formats is really unique. Hardware requirements are a bit higher with this one (800 MHz system) but still low. $49.99

Anyone know anything about these, and whether gbpvr supports them?

I recall someone saying these cards are software only, however the $40 card lists that it needs 4gb of space per 20 mins. of recording which sounds like HDTV but that doesn't make sence.

If it were a digital card it would list it like the $90 model they have.
googleing it doesn't give much either.

I guess you can always buy it then return it & let us know.

I've never heard of them, but I doubt there is any relationship with Hauppauge. At this stage, assume they wont work with GB-PVR.

The cards themselves don't look like Hauppauge designs. The 34-button Hauppauge remote design is also shared by some Pace set top boxes.
