Hauppage Nova-T USB users please read

I am having intermittent recording problems where the recording is all stuttery. The recorded file is about 1/4 the size it should be.

Has anyone else had this?

Can anyone confirm the best drivers to use and which ones to download on the hauppage site - i thought i had the latest but maybe i dont.

I have the PCI version of the Nova-t so can't help specifically on the USB one. The latest drivers can be found at this thread...

If it's the USB2 version, then the latest is v2.4 otherwise there is a list of links for the older Technotrend-based device.

On a general note - which mpeg2 muxer are you using? In my experience this is the usual contributer to DVB recording problems. I settled on the dvr-ms option in the end and use ASAP transcoding to mpeg2.

If changing the muxer doesn't help, check Task Manager to see CPU usage etc. while a recording is in progress. If the machine isn't particularly powerful and you have another process or processes hammering it, this could cause problems. Might also be useful to exclude the recording folder from any 'on-demand' AV scanning if you have such a thing on your machine.

I have a usb2 nova-t and I use drivers 2.3189 and its been fine, infact its the best nova-t out of the 3 I have (90002 and 909) in that it doesn't break up as much.

Sounds symptomatic of poor DVB reception. Do you have this problem using the Hauppauge software?
