dvd audio playback

When watching rented DVDs, I had enabled the system default which is the AC-3 filter audio decoder. But when I try to watch DVDs that I have authored, the sound is mute. If I switch to another Decoder (like the Dscaler Audio Decoder), I get sound. What gives? Anyone know what may be the problem?

IIRC, AC3 cannot output a certain audio type. Mpeg audio perhaps?

I'm sorry. I don't understand what you mean. I don't know what IIRC is--is this a solution or just an observation?

So what I understand from you is that because I author my own DVDs, I cannot use the AC3 filter, therefore I must use mpeg audio both for my DVDs and purchased or rented DVDs.
