livetv on mvp better quality than recorded tv on mvp? how is this possible?

Title says it all. I have the same bit rate settings for livetv and HQ recording profiles, but I swear LiveTV on my MVP looks much sharper and cleaner than recordings do on my MVP. I don't understand how this is even possible.

I'm using a TV Wonder Elite, custom videoprocamp settings in the direct.ini, and CBR 8000kbps video for both livetv and hq recording profiles.

if you are watching live TV, and hit the record button (to save the live tv), then play it back, how does it look? Like it did live, or recorded, or Memorex?(I had to add that...)
