I'm curious how gbpvr decides what capture source to use when it has two to pick from, because it seems to be working exactly opposite of what I thought it might do.

I have two devices setup, device 1 a PVR-150 with coax input, channel 1-100, device 2 a PVR-250 using composite input connected to a STB, channel 1-500. As you can see, both devices can record channels 1-100.
When a single scheduled recording comes up to be recorded on channels 1-100, I'm finding the system always defaults to the PVR-250. This surprised me because I thought for sure it'd choose the device w/the smallest channel lineup to do the recording, leaving the device w/the most channels free in case I should decide to watch or record a channel in the 101-500 range. As it is now, if a recording starts on channel 5, the 250 and STB get occupied with the recording and I can't watch Live TV unless its in the lower 100 channels. If gbpvr chose the pvr150 for the recording, it'd still be able to watch or record anything else I wanted since I'd still have my full channel lineup.

So is my system working this way by design?

Btw, the system coordinates things fine with 2 scheduled recordings.

It typcially starts at the top of the capture source list and makes its way down, looking for an available tuner that has the required channel. Selecting a device for live tv does the opposite order.

Thanks... I guess I was trying to make it more complicated than it is. I think the difference in Live TV vs. scheduled recording was confusing me too.

I'll play around with it and see if I can't get it to act the way I want them.
