Help out a Newbie please

okay... I have a Hauppauge 250 -

I have the audio from my tivo going to the line in on the Hauppauge 250 and the s-video from the tivo going to the Hauppauge 250.

For Recording Source - What should I choose
Capture Card - that is an easy one (Hauppauge 250)
Country - okay, I got that one covered to (USA)
Board Number - I am currently just picking #1 since this is the only card that I have.
Sounde - S-Video, External Tuner


When I attempt to go to live TV, I get a "Debug Assertion Error"

I have this running on Windows Media Center 2002 (on top of Win XP of couse)

My goal is to record either live TV from what ever channel I have selected or to pipe in my recorded Tivo content.

Any help would be appreciated thanks!

Did you check the wiki?

You seem to have the settings correct for what you want. Recording Source should be "direct recording"
As for source (which I assume you mean by "Sounde" ) you should have it set to either "S-video, External tuner", or "S-video2, External tuner", you'll have to try.

The debug assertion error could be just about anything. You will have to check the log files to find out what's causing that. Make sure you set log level to "debug" in the config app first. Post the log files here if you need help to analyze them.

Have you stopped the MCE services? Otherwise it holds onto the card resources and you'll get an error similar to what you describe.

I stopped all of the services, I removed and re-added the capture card and I still get the same error.

Sorry, no not really. I've just now looked at the logs again. It really looks like the device is already in use. I cant be sure though.
