Can I navigate through the GB-PVR using a remote?

I just got my USB-UIRT, installed it and installed the latest drivers.

The thing is, How do I make GB-PVR menu navigation using a remote?
The only spot in the config concerned about remotes is in the channel changer drop down list.. Is this where I need to config it?
What device I need?

I want to use GB-PVR only as a recording box (no LiveTV ...etc.).
Do I need to learn my device (satellite receiever) to GBPVR, and then use the arrows of that device to navigate?

Maybe some article or documentation talking about GB-PVR and remote controls would be very helpful..

The USB-UIRT is used for one thing only in GB-PVR: Sending IR signals to external set top boxes to change channels.

Entirely unrelated, yes - The GB-PVR user interface can be controlled entirely with a remote control. GB-PVR has support for the Hauppauge remote control, and for the MCE remote control. If you need to use other types of remotes to control GB-PVR then you can do this with the third party software Girder (see http://www.girder.nl).

I do not have any of the remotes you mentioned, and not sure if I want to pay money to get Girder, so:
Is there a way that I can edit some ini file or soemthing to map my Universal Remote Commands so GB-PVR can understand?

Alternatively, is there a Universal Code Number for the Hauppauge remote so I can make my remote emulate a Hauppauge remote? I just do not know what code to tell the remote to use (By the way, I amusing a very fine remote control:

Yes, it is a fine remote. I have the same one. Its served me very well over the last couple of years, but I just have it sending Hauppauge remote signals to the Hauppauge receiver. Its the Hauppauge receiver and software that is needed for GB-PVR to work with it.

I've had 'Allow USB-UIRT to act as an IR receiver for controlling GB-PVR' on the to-do list for a while, but its been very low on the priority list because not one single person has asked for this. I will add this, but you cant do it today without using something like girder. At $19 Girder isn't that expensive. It would cost me much much more to develop this functionality.

Ok, I got Girder (I had an old free copy laying around, when it was free), and now eveything is working fine
