Hello if this has been asked already then please point me in the right direction, but I have been unable to find it posted.

I am using this wonderful program along with a haupage usb2 card and it works VERY well. I am going to be getting digital cable shortly though and am at a loss as to how to configure GBPVR to record on channel 3 and have some kind of device change the channel on the able box for me.

Can someone give me some links to hardware that can change a channel on a cable box for me? It is a Motorolla cable box and my cable company is http://www.advancedcable.net/cab_srv_pac...ml#digital

Any information would be greatly appreciated.

I'll try to help. Let's break this down... First we need to connect the Cable box to the Tuner. You can either connect with Coax (the screw connector), Composite or S-Video.

If you choose Coax, then you have to tell the tuner card that you will use a Fixed Channel, External Tuner for the signal and then use an external Channel Changer.

Composite and S-Video are similar, but IMHO, S-video is so much better, it's worth the extra for the s-video cable. Either way, select Composite, External Tuner or S-Video, External Tuner

Now if you chose Fixed Channel, External Tuner, you will need to select the fixed, Constant Channel.

If you chose S-Video, External Tuner, you do not have to change Constant Channel settings

Now, You need to tell GB-PVR how to send the remote codes to your cable box, to change the channels. (You're NOT trying to change the Tuner's channel anymore.) There are a variety of ways. I use the IR Blaster cable that came with my Tuner card. I control the Blaster with HipSend (part of HIP explained in the wiki) http://gbpvr.com/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Tips/HipGuide

Others have found great success buying the USB UIRT.

Although you may not have these devices, Check out this page in the wiki to show you what blasters or receivers might look like.

Looking at the Hauppauge site. it doesn't look like you got a blaster with the USB2...

http://www.hauppauge.com/pages/products/...rusb2.html

So you might do well getting a Microsoft MCE Remote (includes receiver and 2 blasters) (and works great!!!) or the USB UIRT

Hope this helps

Wow thank you very much! I have it all set up perfectly and it works cept for the channel changer but I ordered the usb uirt so that will be the final piece for my PVR.

Again thanks for your very concise step by step response. ^_^
