2 Theater550 Tuners not working properly?

Hi.

I have been using a MSI Theater550 tuner for a while and it works great. Since GB-PVR supports multiple tuners, I decided to purchase another one to be able to record 2 shows at once.

I can watch/record using Tuner1 just fine but once I try and either watch/record a second show, it displays the image from the Tuner1 image feed with no sound and I can't change channels. I can confirm its the Tuner1 feed by disconnecting the coax.

If there is only 1 card in the system, it works fine (thus, both tuner are operationnal and non defective). When both are in the system, there are problems. My motherboard has 2 pci slots and I tried exchanging them from one slot to the other with the same result so I will call them Tuner1 and Tuner2 from now on.

I have uninstalled GB-PVR and deleted the directory re-installing the lastest version and the problem still arise. I have removed all my Capture Source adding only 1 as Device #2, the config is fine, it downloads the EPG but it, again, displays the feed from Tuner1 instead of Tuner2.

Any clues/help would be appreciated.

Schedule two recordings for the same time as test, then zip and attach the resulting logs and I'll take a look.

This might be similar to the problem I was having. I have 2 ATI Elites (Theater550 chip) in my system and could only record or watch tuner1 as you are seeing. My problem was fixed by setting <AutoDetectEncoderMethod> in config.xml from 2 to 0. *not sure if that is the right name for it as I'm at work*

Hope this helps. I'm still not sure exactly what the setting does but it works .

I am currently recording a show and I will try once it is done. Out of curiosity, what does this setting do? I may report my result only tomorrow though.

It relates to the way it finds which components are attached to which cards. Unfortunately not all device manufacturers implement it the same way.
