I'm another new GB-PVR user & have learned a lot in the last couple of days.http://forums.gbpvr.com/images/smilies/smile.gif

The problem I'm having is when I put an AGP card in & try to live view (on the monitor, haven't got to TV out yet) the computer reboots after anything from 1 to a max of 30 seconds, but when using the onboard graphics it works OK (maybe a bit jerky at times but other wise fine). After a lot of mucking around I feel it is a hardware fault. So far I have replaced the 256Mb DDR RAM chip with the 512 out of my personal machine (tried & tested). I also have tried the new FX5200-128 I bought for this PVR & my 9600SE-256 AGP cards out of my personal machine with the same result. As one card is Nvidia & the other ATI I don't see it can be a video driver fault. I have tried both Intervideo video decoder & GPL MPEG-1/2 at VMR9, VMR7 & Overlay all with very much the same results.

This computer is a PCChips M825 motherboard running an Athlon 1200, RAM as above, 200Gb HDD, pvr500MCE, 2005MCE(oem)

I have heard VIA boards can be a problem, any thoughts??Smile

Try the via 4 in one driver from the motherboard maker or look for a new agp system driver from the motherboard maker. I had a problme much like yours with a a-bit board. To fix my problem I had to set the agp speed in the bios to 2X from 4X. If set on 4X it would reboot but mostly with openGL programs. I am kinda sure the 5200 card you have is 4X agp card but is the ati 8X only? Will the motherboard do 8X or only 4X? When you install the agp card do you turn off the on board video in the bios? this might cause a problem as the system will load two drivers. You might want to check your power supply as well. Some strange video problems as well as reboots can be due to the power supply. But take a look for the VIA 4 in one driver. This will have new windows drivers for the AGP system and the board chpset.

Hops this helps.

Thanks for that.
I loaded the 4in1 that came with the motherboard but it's a couple of years old so will get a later one tomorrow & try that first. Never thought of setting 2x for agp :/ While the ati is 8x it works fine at 4x as that is all the computer it came out of is. The onboard vodeo is automaticly turns off when you fit an agp card so thats not the problem. The case is new so the power supply should be ok but will bring a test one home from work tomorrow just in case.

also, take a look in the bios and see if you can set fast writes = OFF.

Some cards crash if this is enabled.
