I have used GB-PVR to record several shows using my Freecom DVB USB Stick (actually it's a clone sold by Maplin).

The recordings all play back fine in GB-PVR, but burn them onto a DVD and the lip-sync goes to pot.

Is this a demuxing problem? Which setting should I use? I have the SS demo loaded. BDA Multiplexer is set to SS (I also have InterVideo, CyberLink, Microsoft DVR-MS and Transport Stream as options).

I'm completely baffled - can anyone help?

Its worth trying one of the more recent Cyberlink muxes (v5.0.1307?).

Even though they're listed, its unlikely they're all available. Try running the mux checker.

try running your out of sync files through projectx (you can burn the outputted elementary streams to dvd OR re-mux with an app of your choice, like MPLEX). this shoudl correct any timeline errors that are present.
MAIN RIG - Opteron 165 @2900MHz
2x1024 OCZ Platinum @ 480MHz (3.3.3.7)
HTPC - Athlon 64 3800+
2x512 Corsair XMS C2
ATI Theatre Pro 550 - MCE Blaster - Comcast Set Top Box
Hauppauge HVR-2250

Thanks Sub... Downloaded the Mux Checker yesterday. Here are the results :

GB-PVR has detected the following multiplex filters on your machine:

Found: ShowShifter MPEG PS Writer
FILE: C:\Program Files\Home Media Networks Limited\ShowShifter\MpegWriter.ax
VERSION: 3.12.0.2945

Found: CyberLink MPEG Muxer
FILE: C:\WINDOWS\system32\MpgMux.ax
VERSION: 5.0.0727

I'll try the Cyberlink one.

Is XProject (suggested by Daveid) the best bet to fix the recordings I already have?

Thanks.

Update.

I tried the Cyberlink MUXer and --- Ugh! the mpg files play back half a second out-of-sync - so I've reverted to the SS option.

I've tried using XProject to Demux /fix then remuxing before burning to DVD. The results look OK, but it's a time-consuming workaround.

Any better ideas?

projectx may be time consuming, but it has to go through the entire timeline analyzing to figure out where the timestamp inconsistencies are and correct them. and the fact is, it works, doesn't it? you don't have to remux to burn to dvd, what program do you use to author your dvd files? you can take the elementary streams that projectx gives you, and add them to your dvd project (it should allow specifying an audio track). if you set projectx to hide the main and processing windows during processing it goes much faster with less strain on your pc.

Thanks daveid.

ProjectX actually works pretty quickly. The remuxing takes far longer using MuxMan.

I'm using NeroVision 3 to burn DVDs and can't find a way of using the de-muxed files. Am I missing something?

don't remux... when you open the video file into nerovision (which is pretty poor as a dvd authoring software - dvdlab is much sweeter, but thats my preference, it's also really expensive) select "edit video" there you can add an audio track to the video, and away you go.
but if you are set on remuxing, you can use cuttermaran and select the start to finish of the video as one cut point... it's pretty quick too.
