Nope, I gave up and bought an usb-uirt =) Worked right away. That said, I never did try my blaster under linux, so it might well have been something wrong with it altogether. Or something I did wrong...

I had a similar device running for some time under Girder.
The older versions are available for free (3.2.9, IIRC), you'll need the IGOR-Plugin as well.

I used it successfully using winlirc with my serial port IR TX with my PVR250. When I got the PVR150 with integrated IR TX I had no requirement to continue using the serial port TX.
